Which is why their strategy should be tweaked/changed further so they can compete with the rich clubs. They bought Ozil and I can see them buying an elite forward next year.

the reason we bought Ozil was because we have to money this time... we are getting new sponsorship deals which will give us atleast 30mil for more plus more money coming from tv deals..

Our debt is under control, and could be paid totally if we wanted to, but under our debt loan deal we can't pay all the money at once we have to do it in installments (15-20mil per year)

Tbh, If Arsenal want to actually win something, Ozil is going to have to work wonders, otherwise I can't see them winning anything this season.

Well winning the legaue/ cl is a real long shot, but anyone in the pl can win the cc/ fa cup. Frigging wigin and Swansea won them last year. We just have to want it. Hopefully wenger really goes for them this year

Our squad isn't complete yet. But were getting there. We have the money to financially compete unlike before now.

And honestly, l think if we stay top 3 by January and we make the signings we need then, we can win the prem. But more realistically l'd like to see us win something, anything, just to get the no trophy in x years thing off our back to get some pressure off the team

Of course, the FA Cup has always been prestigious and worthwhile BUT "worthwhile" is not the word I used. It was "target" and that means a completely different thing. I'm talking about the aspirations of the club, not the effort put into winning something.

What I'm saying is that no top club ever sets out to win the FA Cup as a legitimate target at the beginning of the season. The season objectives for a top club should be the league title and the champions league above all else. To have a coach allegedly saying (doubt it) that winning the CC or FA is enough lowers the standards for the club. Even though Arsenal hasn't won anything in ages, to set your sights on what is basically a side-tournament is not being ambitious enough for Arsenal. Although, admittedly, winning anything would be an improvement for Arsenal.

Did someone from Arsenal Football Club say that FA Cup is the only "legitimate target" for this season? Or are we just talking fantasy here?

Wenger has always said his main target is winning the league and Champions League, then the domestic cups so what's this nonsense?

it gives us more option for a Midfield throughpass apart from Santi..

secondly, Ramsey and Wilshere can focus fully on the deeper Midfield

the fa cup and other league equivalents "matter". but the amount they matter compared to the league or champions league are so small in comparison that i believe it's more appropriate to say they don't matter. nice to win? yes. important to win? in a way, but pretty much only to technically say you have a trophy

if anyone here had a team fighting for the league/champions league and the fa cup was in the way, they would instantly want to drop the fa cup commitments. if the cup did matter it would be a difficult decision, you would need to weigh up the options. but it isn't a difficult decision. everyone would choose the league/champions league without a second of thought. if the fa cup did matter to any degree it would be at least a choice worth weighing up, but it isn't

The FA Cup still matters to the fans, it doesn't matter so much to the top PL clubs because the revenue that league position and the Champions League can bring in is far superior so they will always be preferred. The FA Cup is a massive part of Arsenal's history and everyone associated with the club would love to win it again.
