Re: Tiago Ilori
I give up. This kid will never play for us. And it's not because he's not good because he's the second best defender we have. Injuries

Unlikely. All the report suggests it's a strain and there will be further tests to ascertain the extent of the injury.Art Morte wrote:Is he out for long?

Re: Tiago Ilori
So he's been given extended leave as his wife is having a baby soon/ or just had one (going from his twitter page).
I was worried for a second since he hasn't appeared in any of the team photos yet, but it's all good.

but acually that is not good and that just means we will keep him in this season. I hope he plays ahead of Toure whenever we are need in of that 4th choice CB.

Re: Tiago Ilori
4th choice. He's the second best defender after Sakho. Hopefully Skrtel and Lovren get sent off or get minor niggles and are displaced by Ilori. The sooner it happens, the less problems we'll face in defense.

Re: Tiago Ilori
it is not helping him for whatever reason to be at home right now during pre season. He could have impressed the manager but he will have difficult time when he comes back getting ahead of other players. It doesnt matter if he is actually a better defender than the ones we have, he will need to prove it when he gets a chance. Imo, it seems difficult that he would even get a chance !

Re: Tiago Ilori
Disagree with James, Not enough experience yet to lead the Liverpool defense, Needs to be phased in the PL like Ibe.
Applying Art's values here how he would prefer Redmond to Firmino and Wisdom to Joe Gomez.

Re: Tiago Ilori
PL experience did well for us with Lovren, did it
Anyways, of course what I'm saying won't actually happen. Ilori won't displace the awful Skrtel or Lovren. Who are we kidding. Ilori could be Maldini and Rodgers wouldn't be able to spot the talent. His own captain was being shopped as a part exchange deal for Dempsey when he first came, Rodgers has no eye to spot talent. Granted, he can develop them well, won't disagree with anyone there.
Anyways I agree with Helmes.

Re: Tiago Ilori
I am really hoping to see Ilori become a regular in the cups/Europa this season.
He's got a lot of the tools needed to be a wonderful CB in our setup, especially given the right partner. Now, he just needs experience in order to develop at the Premier League level.
Do we know if he's still on leave, or is he available for the match against Swindon? I would love to see him partnered with Sakho.

I like DTO-red's activity surge at the dawn of the season.
That said, I don't think we'll be seeing Ilori this season.

Re: Tiago Ilori
I like peoples enthusiasm here about Illori but I can guarantee you that Illro is not going to feature in this season as expect!
The sole reason is Rodgers has no idea what qualities in defense to put together and how to make it work. For CB position, we have Skrtel, Sakho, Toure and Lovren and I can not comment if Illori should be ahead of any one of them, because he has not proven himself enough to be ahead of anyone. Rodgers is going to go for safe choices from those four to form CB partnership in one of the cup competitions. The only case I see Illori featuring (more) is in case we play 3 at the back.

Re: Tiago Ilori
I don't think Ilori is expected to feature prominently this season. However, I do expect him to see as a rotation/depth players and get some games. It's not really a big deal to supersede Lovren or Toure in the pecking order.

Is there an option to call him back. Sherwood bastard wont give him any chance, better will be he develops under Klopp because Kolo is injured anyways.

Re: Tiago Ilori
Sherwood's gone anyway.
But I don't know whose idea it was to loan him to Villa, probably Rodgers', it looked stupid on paper and has been that in reality.

Timmy is an absolute imbecile. Why the hell bring a player on-loan and then put him in U21 squad???

Re: Tiago Ilori
*bleep* Rodgers has ruined this talented guy's early development.
He would have got so many chances under Klopp this season. Same for Markovic.
Two of the worst loans we have made for a long time.

When was the last time Liverpool made a decent loan deal? Can't for the life of me remember.
I guess Sahin from Madrid was good, but struggling to think of any other positive outcome... ins or outs.

Thank the football gods he's returning. Brendan managed to complete *bleep* up this kids career.
We're dire need of CBs anyways so he'll get his chance.

A combination of factors appears to have done that. However, Rodgers certainly didn't help.Don't call me James wrote:http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tiago-ilori-set-liverpool-fc-10673847

Ilori had such promise when he came, and he appeared to be realizing some of his potential at he U21 Euro's. It's hard to say that he "deserves" a spot without ever seeing him play. However, I have faith in Klopp to at least give him a fair assessment in training and potentially chances in matches, especially with the upcoming cup fixtures in Europe, League and FA crowding the schedule. Once he returns, we will have a far better idea of where he stands in the pecking order and what his future will be with the club. If he doesn't get a look in in the next few months, then he will likely never make it here.

Well that may be the case for you but I've watched him almost every times he's played in the past 2 years to know he's better than Skrtel and Lovren already. Just needs to be given a chance is all.
