Anyways I agree, don't see why he should have to take a pay cut, but he could have just come out and said "I'm a professional and Barca didn't offer me an enticing enough offer" rather than "I have to feed my family"

Thats what I'm saying. He says he's an admirer of Barcelona, but yet can't come to his "dream club" as he has claimed before on a 7M salary?

Are the reports that Montoya's negotiations for a new deal have stalled (and that he may subsequently leave on a free next summer) accurate? Or are they more of the usual tabloid nonsense?

Perhaps he wants first team assurances, but with Alves and Adriano I dont see how he can get it.

There's still basically a full season ahead, and not even any guarantees that Liverpool will be in the market for a rightback come January/next summer, so I am certainly getting ahead of myself here, but I'll ask anyway: Would Montoya be able to settle in Liverpool and the PL? How has he been since his injury?

Dont know how we would do in Liverpool overall, but I would think he would be worthy back up to Johnson. I dont think he would want that role, but I wouldnt be surprised if he thought he could win the position from Johnson (he would be wrong though I think).

I dont think he would be any different in the PL than La Liga. Strong on the overlap, a fine crosser on the run, but defensively suspect in the 1 v 1 and positionally.

I am not a fan of his current level, his performances have been off for some time now. He had some chances when Dani Alves was injured last season and I personally felt he failed in those chances, always making the same mistake over and over again (letting players run behind him and him not being aware of their run).

Again, very good on the overlap and crossing with just 1 touch (a very useful skill for a fullback I think), decent at times in terms of passing the ball and composure but under par defensively for me.

Kelly and Wisdom are both fine back-ups to Johnson. Come next summer (or even this January) I think the focus will be on finding a replacement/competition for the 29yo. Kelly's injury concerns mean he's not really a safe bet as a long term RB and both he and Wisdom will eventually shift back into central defense, I think. IF we make a move for a RB it will be in the same vein as Cissokho, I expect... a player to compete for the starting position and perhaps replace the current number 1 there.

According to Pasarella Martino has made up his mind about getting a CB. While he dismissed that we're interested in Balanta, I would be very happy with him. I have never seen such a composed player in a debut season. I'd say he comfortably has a higher ceiling than Marquinhos.

I will admit to not seeing much of Sakho, and I understand that he just moved teams and did not play much recently, but his display for Liverpool right now is not very reassuring of his ability.

I'm curious to see if after Neymars great showing in the 9 spot, and the fact Messi has practically played between the RW and CM position (hes like almost on the right, mid line now....odd as shit), I wonder if Tata out of nowhere does this for one match to see what happens

Draxler plays mostly on the left or center. However, given he is almost ambidextrous, I think he could adapt on the right. Him and a great CB would be the perfect signings for next season, to give us back some of the physique we are lacking.

If they are really offering him for 20-25 milion and we pass, we are idiots.

We should not buy any more forwards without selling the many we have now.
Pedro, Tello, Sanchez, Cuenca, Deulofeu.
one of Pedro or Sanchez would leave, and two of the youngsters should leave.
I'd rather keep Sanchez and Deulofeu but realistically I don't see the club ever selling Pedro unless PSG or another oil club comes calling with a big bag of cash.
