Pastore's first season at PSG was very impressive. He was the orchestrator for them; made them tick, and chipped in with goals. Still a quality player though.

Having the best part of £80m to spend (taking into account the £8m or Gervinho and £2m for Vito), there's absolutely no reason why we couldn't get Martinez at £30m-£35m.

We've also saved around £350k+ a week in wages with the dozen departures that left. Not factoring our annual turnover growth, which allows for an increase in salary etc; we're paying a max of £50k a week to Flamini, the same to Vivi, with Sanogo taking in about £20k. That's £120k. Leaves us with £230k left.

Ozil will command about £170k gross; I think Martinez would be around £100k. Point being: we can easily afford a permanent forward would be here for at least another 4/5 years. Getting in a loan forward is pointless as we have money available to SPEND

But what if Wenger is set upon moving for a "top top top quality" forward next summer who isn't available to him this summer?

(I.e., including, "isn't available to him this summer at a price he's willing to pay.")

Reus? Benzema? Going for Suarez again? (He wouldn't be as expensive...) I don't know if it's ideal but I can picture the logic of a stopgap loan signing like Ba if Wenger felt he'd have a good shot at getting one of these big guns 9-10 months from now.

I agree that Martinez NOW would be good though ...

Yeah l'd prefer waiting till next summer, or even January honestly for a striker. More should be available.

Ba is underrated, he tore it up at Newcastle. He'll be great for us.

And honestly, there is a possibility that Giroud has a season that makes us stop clamoring for a top top top striker.

Adding someone like Ozil will do for us what adding Silva did for Man city. Hopefully having 3 ESTABLISHED German internationals will entice a lot of other up and coming German players to join die Gunners.

I like Ba, admittedly. I think he's a strong forward and can score goals. Bizarre to some, I'd be less irritated, if Wenger actually bought him than got him on loan. Sounds weird but that's how I feel.

We could speculate about next seasonand who could be available, but right now, there's a "scratched record" feel about certain aspects of how we recruit players.
