I can only imagine that Wenger doesn't want to give up on Szczesny just yet. Viviano will provide very good competition for Szczesny's place, which could drive Szczesny to improve and become the keeper we thought he would become when he first broke through into the first team.

I never saw goalkeeper as an urgent position that needed strengthening, so I'm not that bothered by us signing Viviano. I wouldn't have been bothered if we had signed nobody.

Anyway:

@GeoffArsenal: Very very close to a "Top Top Quality" German International that you will be delighted with.

Viviano is a third choice back up. Wtf is wrong with you all? Stop underrating szcz n flaapy just because u hate wenger. We're covering for mannone. You want Never for that or something?

Btw, if Caesar hasn't been bought by ANY club, all summer, surely that's a sign to be apprehensive?

Stop taking it personal, before I have to report that post. I have been here long enough for regular posters to know my views. I challenge you to find one post from three years here n two years on Lol.com before that where I hv not criticized where its due.

If having viviamo instead of Martinez as 3 gk is cancer, then you gotta open your eyes mate.

I m giving credit where its due, instead of misdirecting my anger at the fackfest this summer has been. Don't put words where there r none.

Regarding Viviano

I was huge fan of him when he was Bologna, would sign him as number 1 during his prime in heart beat but the one big injury stalled him great deal. Granted he was still Fiorentina number one last year and didn't rejoin for whatever reason.

I don't think he will join as number 3 GK, he will be pushing starting pos for several reasons.

1. He's 27 which is still quite ok age for a GK, if the loan happens, I believe he genuinely think of getting that 1st spot.

2. His wage is not small at all, about 50k, absurd amount for 3rd choice keeper unless he taking some pay cut which i doubt it.

3. Wenger thinks of getting someone who could push Chesny in short term, so the loan deal for ex Italian national team GK is not a bad option.

4. Now I feel sad for Fab Sad

Of course all of those above assume he actually will be joining.

Wenger's exact words were "maybe we'll surprise you". Also said we need one or two "super players", that he's confident and ready to pay over the market value (but nothing "crazy") and that it's like a domino game.

Reading between the lines, he could be alluding to the Bale deal.
