Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If we're still at the point where we still need to convince the player to join then I can't see us getting him. Madrid will have to say "sorry, we don't think we need you anymore" and I don't think they will, especially if the player is willing to stay.
It's difficult to see us pushing through a deal for Draxler at this stage, too. I'd be more confident if he were pushing for a move but that doesn't seem to case. Schalke can stand firm on this one.
As for Kaka, wages could be an easy stumbling block for both us and Milan.
Could be a case of much ado about nothing on Monday, unfortunately.

Question is, can we get enough replies in the next 48 hours or so to generate yet another Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
According to gunnerblog, Cardiff were informed by Montero's people that he was heading to Arsenal. That sounds dodgy in itself, but this guy has apparently changed agents three times this summer.
So I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was just a ploy to get more money.
Equally, I wouldn't be surprised if we did actually sign him.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Slim chance we could get any of those targets. Schakle is in CL anh quite ok money wise, would be stupid od them if they let Draxler goes now unless absurd money is offered ( which we never do), his value will only go up. Di Maria, again selling club is Real, they wont push to offload surplus even if Bale comes and Di Maria wants to stay. Kaka unless Milan chicken out, that's his only destination.
Only possible signging seems to be thi Montero guy.

@REWBVendettaRed07 wrote:He isn't quite on that level, but he's certainly close. Even though its not a position of need, it is a need for the team. There's no point going after Draxler just because he's an apparent talent. We need a GK, DM & FW. Imho, Ox and Draxler are cut from the same cloth.
Draxler isn't a necessity!!!
And signing Draxler doesn't mean we can't also sign a DM, or a GK or defender as well.
20%? Are you sure you're not the one who's trolling? For e.g. Ox not starting is more to do with Wenger as opposed to Ox's ability. Ive seen Draxler play many times, even took time out to watch Schalke x Leverkusen, as saw nothing from Draxler that Ox doesn't have. To even say he's on Neymar and Gotze's level is fanboy chatter at its finest.
@vendetta
I'm not saying we won't sign anyone else besides Draxler - if we do actually sign him, of course - I'm simply asking that Wenger prioritises who we need more, at this moment in time. Unless negotiating on several fronts is Wenger's speciality, then I think either a DM or defender won't be signed.
EDIT: Uchida is bang average like I always thought. I'm not sure what Wenger sees in him, to be honest. Definitely a player Wenger wants based on a squad addition. Seriously though, just Don't understand why he'd waste £6m on a shite player. Very bizarre.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I'd give Kaka a 2 year deal, to be honest. I still think he is class and is the kind of player to excite our current crop.
Haven't a clue what the Montero talk is about.
Mata signing for us could well save Wenger's hide. Sneaky feeling he'll end up on loan to Athletico though.

Right! Wenger contradicting himself with this statement.
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/08/30/4224508/player-valuations-are-not-realistic-wenger-hits-out-at
"I don’t think the prices are linked with the quality of the players this summer. The prices today are just linked with the financial power and the desire of the buyer. It’s impossible to assess a market where you can say that this is the normal price for this player because that is his quality – that has gone completely".
But he made a ridiculously big bid for Draxler? So is he succumbing to the problems affecting most teams? Is he admitting to our financial power? Is he an idiot?
Taken from The Observer. I hope Arsenalfaithful can comprehend text. Been spewing rubbish for too long now. Find the entire article here:
http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/aug/31/arsenal-wenger-tottenham-derby?
"But I think the final decision has to always be with the manager. He is the one who is responsible for the style of the team, and the results. It makes sense that the manager chooses the players who come in."
So, lets finally put to rest any suggestions that Wenger doesn't have FINAL say on who comes in...hence the reports of Dick Law always having to refer back to Wenger etc

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Well to be fair, he might think that prices are crazy results of a crazy and uneven market, and nevertheless feel that he's going to have to play that game if he wants certain star players. It's not necessarily contradictory to acknowledge a problem, disapprove of the situation, and nevertheless feel like entering that situation is the only way to accomplish certain tasks. (I might resent the cost of oysters on the half shell and nevertheless pay $3.75 per oyster if I'm out at a nice restaurant and that's what I really want to eat.)SUPERCARTTS wrote:Right! Personally I'm going to wait until a more reputable report comes in re: Draxler. The end of the window is going to be crazy so until further, credible news comes in that an actual bid was made, I'm taking all this Draxler stuff with a big grain of salt.
But I do agree with this. I'm not anti-Wenger but I do think he's done a very bad job this transfer window ... ultimately the blame must be laid at his feet. I'm just hoping the next couple days will see a good result against Spurs and a couple of solid arrivals. So, lets finally put to rest any suggestions that Wenger doesn't have FINAL say on who comes in...hence the reports of Dick Law always having to refer back to Wenger etc

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Why are we being linked with all these random players? Are we in such a stage that we have to sign players that are considered GOOD ENOUGH FOR CARDIFF....?GoonerJay29 wrote:According to gunnerblog, Cardiff were informed by Montero's people that he was heading to Arsenal. Wenger has seriously lost it this time.If we are so desperate for such wingers we can get Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea rather than Montero.

Arsenal are now being linked with Xabi Alonso, continuing our present trend of signing being linked with Madrid don't wants.
Also,Arsenal are serious about Kalou(according to various BS websites),since he has a buy-out clause of 2.6mio.
I wouldn't be surprised if we do actually sign Kalou.

Draxler :
"I don't mind people speculating, I'll let them have their fun," he said. "If nothing extraordinary happens, I will be here on Monday.
"But Schalke could change their mind and say 'Well, 40 or 30 million euros is not so bad,' and then I can't do much about it."
"If the club absolutely wants to sell me, I will not say 'No, I want to stay.'"

Pathetic Spuds not letting Bale’s transfer complete until just before the deadline. I predict Bale will be confirmed at 10:59pm tomorrow. I would expect nothing less from such a classless bunch of inbreds.
Still, do what you like.
Remember. Thursdays are Spursdays.
Always.
I’m actually more fired up for this Derby than any I can remember.

Sky Italia: Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano to have medical at Arsenal today. Loan with option to buy: http://bit.ly/17rWLpc
Info: Viviano is 27, has 6 caps for Italy. Was last season on loan at Fiorentina (32 Serie A starts).
See @JamesHorncastle for info on #AFC's next signing Viviano. "Tore ACL in 2011, up & down since." Fight Szczesny for no.1 spot.
Arsenal also held talks overnight with Real Madrid regarding di Maria, @Sanderson confirms. Busy 36 hours ahead.
