Seriously. Watch Green Room if you haven't. That shit has some gnarly violence, and stars Patrick Stewart as a scary as shit nazi.

I might watch that tonight/tomorrow then. Sounds like my cup of banter.

Ray Fisher has just been announced. Really excited to see him in dramatic works.

Very basic consensus: Better than Season 2. Is much closer to Season 1 in tone and narrative, but ultimately still falls short of it. Ali is superb in the lead role. Story is derivative and suffers from slow pace that will likely turn off some viewers, but still contains some of the same magic that was captured in Season 1.

Season 2 wasn't that bad, so I'll take "better than season 2 and captures some of the magic of season 1"

Watched season 1 of this for the first time a couple weeks ago. What a fantastic show, really top notch.

First 2 episodes of the new season are great. They got the ambiance of season 1 back again. It just feels right.

only watched the first 2 so far..but it seemed pretty damn good, hoping the season holds up.

I watched S1 again 1 week before Season 3 and it's easily a top 5 show ever

Episode 3 was fine, but I was expecting more from it. I hope episode 4 will shed some light about some stuff that's going on. Scoot McNairy and Stephen Dorff were very good so far and the soundtrack is also excellent.

So I was kinda surprised when I saw they went with the same formula as season one again. Same 3 timelines narrative, with the same motifs - cult activity and missing little kids. Kinda felt that was a cheap way to just get the series back on track after the season 2 complaints. There are many ways a detective story can be done, but oh well I guess, at least the suspense and intrigue is solid so far.

Yeah Firenze, I remember to have begun to watch TD1 because you were  hyping in 2014 and well still grateful for it. AMAZING series.
TD1 was better as script , it was better generally , TD2 (even though I liked it tbh) was better just about music..for the rest inferior.
Anyway this TD3 is built symmetrically on TD1.
Children, ritual murders, story built on different temporal plans , two detective where one is "subordinate" on main  ... where have I already seen something like this?
Probably the "flop" of 2nd series scared Pizzolato and he insisted on something that had already worked
Fact is , 3rd series has many points of similarity with 1st series and 0 with 2nd. TD2 seems as if it has never exsisted.
No apparent distorsions, story is solid.
And it is going to be further interesting. Satisfied with it.
I expect it will have a good success   placing on an intermediate level of liking between TD1 (the best ) and TD2 (the 'worst'). Hard to overcome TD1 for just a reason : Rust Cohle.

He's coming home ?

This show has been excellent so far. That scene with old Wayne and the ghosts of his past was so well done and well acted by Mahershala.

TD1 was raised especially from interpretations by Rust and Marthy , but this TD3 might be even better about the plot.
My insane prediction : killer can be the sister and she runs with his adult friend n fear that she'll be in trouble for killing her brother
Okay I ' ve read this prediction on web , it sounds weird but it's in my mind now.
Tbf Pizzolatto plot are always so extremely realistic, no unexpected plot twist ( I remember when ppl predicted Marty's wife to be the Yellow King lmao ) , so it's expected to be again so ... But who knows ... I can't wait for next Monday.

Shocked that Stephen Dorff (the white partner cop) is so good in this. I remember him from Blade way back, obviously. And his career has mostly been straight to DVD stuff afaik since, but he seems fantastic in this. Hope it revitalizes his career. Obviously nothing needs to be said about Mahershala. Worthy follow-up to Season 1 so far.

I hope he has a Sam Rockwell-style revival of his character and that this show relaunches his career. He's been the surprise of the show so far.

I don't personally think it's the sister tbh, but it could be. I thought about it and I wouldn't be very surprised. Didn't read anything on the web, but personally I think Hayes knows something about the murder but his mind is fked up atm.

Btw, I told you Dorff is great in this one.

Okay so my theory up to this point:
Lucy had sexual relations with Mr. Hoyt in order to get more money or just get something out of him whatever it is, Julie is an offspring of them too. Hoyt is a very powerful man so he devised a whole plan to take Julie away from Lucy and Tom.

This can be backed up by Lucy's immense guilt in the last episode, she definitely knows more than what she has told the detectives thus far.
