Yes or No?
A quick Rooney Poll
Simple question; Yes or No to buying Wayne Rooney, considering the price could rise over 40m?

A poll is a nice clean way to portray the general opinion of the section.

Re: A quick Rooney Poll
Agreed. From that thread - which was a month or so ago so things may have changed - counting JUST the Chelsea fans, it was 3 yes, 5 no, and fitty sort of in between.

Clearly they need some convincing, Perhaps some pictures of Wazza in his jocks will help?

Re: A quick Rooney Poll
And in the past all of our big striker signings have worked so well...
We had 3 players inside the top 10 scorers of the EPL last season.
What I really don't get is why we haven't gone after some of the smaller quality strikers. Somebody like Gameiro is a class player and left PSG for Sevilla for 6.6m.

"Our last 2 big-name, obviously past-it striker signings were a bust, therefore let's never buy another quality striker again."
Brilliant logic.

Re: A quick Rooney Poll
No worse than assuming that Rooney arriving will produce bundles of goals. It's a big risk. Earlier the fee that was talked about was 30m but upwards of 40m for an unhappy, fat, unmotivated player is too much.Shed wrote:"Our last 2 big-name, obviously past-it striker signings were a bust, therefore let's never buy another quality striker again."lszanto wrote:And in the past all of our big striker signings have worked so well...

Under Mourinho last time we never had strikers scoring 20+ in the league(bar Drogba one year) and the scoring was shared. With most of our AMs scoring 10+ goals I don't really see it as being a big issue.
To me he's just a huge unneeded risk.

Re: A quick Rooney Poll
Lukaku is not a top-drawer striker. I don't care how many goals coming off the bench against tired defences and on the break he scored last season, he still has alot of improving to do and he's not leading anyone to anything this season, that's for sure.
And even if we are going to pretend he's gonna become some super-duper striker this campaign, is he going to play every game in every competition? You need more than one decent striker to compete on all fronts, and neither of the current back-ups can hit the side of a mile-wide barn if their lives depended on it.

Re: A quick Rooney Poll
Yeah he is not a proper finished product or even close to it. Even if he plays every game this season it will still take at least 2-3 years for him to become world class. I was open to Cavani moving or other strikers but Rooney is a special case. He is expensive to get + expensive to maintain + hot head + thinks he is the best striker in the world and demands stuff.
Re: A quick Rooney Poll
And yes, I understand the back up problem. I just don't like Rooney
Any other striker, even some random player in a top league is ok, or someone like Michu or someone like that. But Rooney is a big package.

Torres is all of those things but the thing with Rooney is that he can score.iNFINITY9910 wrote:Yeah he is not a proper finished product or even close to it. Re: A quick Rooney Poll
Rooney can bring a lot to this club, I dont believe he is a hot head as he used to be. After CR7 and Tevez were out of united, I think he got a bit frustrated about United's quality, and he was basically their face till Van Persie came along, plus united sucks at playing attractive football since the ronaldo days, cant blame Rooney. But Chelsea offers a lot, a good defense, a sexy midfield, and him spear heading it will make Chelsea ridiculous. But at the end I think people are just misunderstanding Rooney, I believe he is world class and shouldnt be treated as second class, at Chelsea he can be given 1st choice and world cup year will motivate him even more.

Trouble's b-Roo-ing: Chelsea's Wayne Rooney pursuit back on for next summer:
Chelsea are on red alert to make a second run at Wayne Rooney, with the striker still not having been offered a new deal at United
