Jesus must be bad if Pastore is starting over him
I'd take him for the right price, need to start using Wingers badly and he wouldn't take long at all to settle back in Serie A.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Lavezzi has no end product... none this year. He ruins almost every chance he gets. A shame because everything up to that final ball is good.
Lucas Moura is too one-dimensional. He's very young... but still; he's not making progress really.
Pastore had a good game... but who knows what he does in the next one
I won't even mention Menez who is putrid and cost the goal.
That's why PSG is looking for a starter this summer to play next to Ibra-Cavani.
As far as Monaco... Ranieri is a great tactician. But his player choices are very strange. For example, Ocampos has barely played and he starts this one. Then, you play Germain over Martial or Berbatov. etc. Riviere is just not an efficient finisher... which is where you really miss Falcao. With Falcao, Monaco win this one.
Decent game. I think Blanc got it very wrong with his Menez sub. Cabaye for Verratti was fine... but Menez for Pastore? Personally, i'd have played Lavezzi for Pastore since he defends at least and Cabaye in for Lucas Moura + pushed Verratti into a more forward role. Bad managing imo here.

I'd take Lavezzi at Pool in a heart beat. Would be an immense upgrade on Aspas/Moses. We literally have zero attacking production off the bench.
You reckon PSG will let him go in the summer?

yes they will, but quite frankly, if you have money to burn, do it somewhere else. If PSg are looking to upgrade, it's for a reason...

Lucas would be great in the BPL or in La Liga. You have very little space in Ligue 1 since most teams play pretty defensive football from what i have seen.
The wost part is that Lucas is just regressing. His confidence is so low he doesnt even take on defenders anymore, he just keeps passing it sideways

Watched the 1-1 draw highlights, it did appear Monaco matched PSG and PSG seem to rely a lot on Ibra alone? Ibra needs to not turn PSG into a one man team which seems often the case wherever he goes?
Saw the head to head records too, I dont think PSG won a game vs Monaco in the past couple of years too, amazing.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Monaco were in Ligue 2 last year and the year before... so they wouldn't have played PSG.
The first game, where Cavani was healthy, PSG dominated completely and couldn't capitalize. In this one, it was an even game because, other than Ibra, they didn't have a secondary scoring threat. That's how important Cavani is to the PSG system with Lavezzi and Lucas Moura unable to score anything.
@ ganso. The problem with Lucas is that he has zero tactical awareness. He doesn't read his teammates movements or the defenses. He either passes it off or puts his head down and dribbles... it's a random decision. As such, he is awful at using Van Der Wiel and he has no chemistry with the midfielders. He's also made zero progress with his final ball. Very disappointed. Good kid, great talent... just doesn't have a footy brain it seems.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Nick went way overboard in his original post.. Ranieri and Blanc are very shite coaches especially for the magnitude these two teams will be heading next season. They will more than likely be dumped next summer for bigger head coaches like a Hiddink or Capello, etc.
Ranieri only has one job to do with this Monaco side, and thats just finish within the top 3 and qualify for the CL. There's no way in hell this guy guides this team next season into Europe. NONE. Terrible player management on and off the field and to boot not a coach who will win the big games to get this team to the next level.
Blanc is just flat out a shmuck. This guy said he hopes he doesn't draw Barcelona in the CL.. Blanc will forever live off his Bordeaux days. He's a medium side headcoach, not one who is studded with stars, he's too small minded and plays timid.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Well this was bound to happen
Paris Saint-Germain are among seven French clubs to have launched legal action against Monaco over the tax benefits they receive compared to other domestic sides.
Les Rouge et Blanc have attracted a host of big-name stars to the club, partly thanks to the allure of generous tax legislation on the principality compared to mainland France, which has a significantly higher income tax rate of 75 per cent.
Their promotion back into Ligue 1 in 2013 triggered a row with LFP, which runs the professional football leagues in France, over their headquarters being located on the island and not the mainland, allowing them to continue receiving tax advantages.
Monaco appeased the LFP in January by giving the organisation €50 million in a deal which the club claimed "demonstrated their commitment to French football".
However, seven French clubs - PSG, Bordeaux, Olympique de Marseille, Montpellier, Lille, Lorient and Caen - have branded the deal "rushed and non-transparent", insisting they will take it to court as it did not "respect basic legal principles".
Indeed, the €50m lump sum paid into the LFP's pockets arguably does not outweigh the exponential benefits in having extra cash to attract star players and coaches to Monaco, which looks set to remain in the tax haven.
This is a view held by the president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noel Le Graet, who questioned the legitimacy of the Stade Louis II side's deal and thinks that another approach to dealing with their tax advantage is needed.
"Taxation is too good to Monaco," the FFF chief told L'Equipe. "This [€50m] does not remove the qualities or the benefits they have, so there is a real difficulty.
"The situation has changed a lot in 20 years, as previously Monaco were a formative club. There was not much difference between them and others.
"Excluding Monaco does not seem wise, but the [€50m] deal seems a bit lightweight. We need to get back around the table to discuss and find a solution.
"We will need a large majority of Ligue 1 clubs to accept an agreement with Monaco. Right now, this is not the case."

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Problem is that that the LFP has the legal right to make deals on behalf of the clubs of Ligue 1.... it's like electing Flo Perez as president of Madrid: Once you do it, he is authorized to make deals on behalf of the club. The clubs of Ligue 1 signed a membership agreement with the LFP and the Thierrez was chosen as its president.
Unless the LFP did something that was against his bylaws AND the infringement is one triggers annulment of the deal (not all issues trigger cancellation)... then there isn't a legal leg to stand on.
Monaco was taking the previous case up to the EU and would have likely won (there's an all encompassing commercial deal with Monaco and the EU)... which is why this settlement was reached.

Sports whats the name of the young Marseille kid being pipped by Liverpool??
smh @ not signing your prize youth academy players to a pro contract, I know he's 15-16, but Marseille aren't exactly known for their Academy, unlike the other big teams around the league. Marseille should just hand him his pro contract and do what the other teams do and sell him on in a couple of years for double what the compensation fee will be when he leaves.

meh... we such at keeping kids around. Management is a disaster. City, Chelsea and Liverpool are after the kid.
His name is Maxime Lopez and he plays for U17 NT too. Midfielder.
Management ffs
Although he is being offered €20K euros a month and the parents are getting great jobs as part of the deal... OM can't compete with that.

Mistranslation if that's what people are saying about Le Parisien article... the article states that Leonardo has said that he watches all the PSG games BUT that he's moved to Italy (Milan) permanently and prefers it there. He's most likely to end up at Inter. There is zero chance he'll go to AC Milan according to the article. The EPL somewhere is his second preference. He could maybe come back to PSG because he's very close to the president.... but it's considered a longshot according to the article since he's sold his apartment in Paris and has cut off everything he had there.

Lucas is like Lavezzi... great skills on the ball, fast as hell... but as soon as they get near the box, it all falls apart lol. There has to be some psychologist you can see about that.

Lavezzi is a different case as his final ball/through passes in Napoli were excellent especially because he had a license drifting in from left-right and centre with interchangability. In PSG he is isolated purely on the left and acting as a wide player, nowhere near reminiscent of his Napoli role.
Lucas fails at this due to his poor tactical awareness and the fact that he keeps his head down permanently on the ball, to which has him dribbling into blind alleys and making severe tactical mistakes. Shown noted improvement tonight and hope isn't lost from anywhere yet given Marseille's defence versus Ligue 1 usual defences, praise might be overtouched as I'd like to witness this more.

too bad Lucas has no chance of going to the WC,he would be a great option coming from the bench, kind of like Navas when he comes in for Spain
