$199 + 2 year contract and $570 off contract (and still locked on AT&T) is an absolute robbery for those specs. I was looking forward to the rumored price of $300 unlocked and would have purchased one for my gf for that. The phone doesn't have a skin so I hope the google play version doesn't rob it of some of the more interesting features it has, like active notifications. I'm disillusioned Motorola has chosen to tackle the high end phone market with a medium-range phone, especially when I think there is much more room for growth in the medium-range phone market.

Also, only customizable on AT&T :lol:That won't last, so what's the point?

I don't think there's gonna be a Google play version for this because the OS is already pretty much stock android, with only slight modifications, which are nice. It would have been nice though had the phone had a nexus-like status so updates could be pushed faster, but that's not to be. I don't why they priced it where they did either. It's a mid-range phone but priced similar to an HTC One or a Galaxy S4. The shape is nice and the option to customize is also good, but I'd still take the HTC One over this.

There will be a Google Play verison, Google already confirmed it, that they will sell one on their play store in the future

It could be cheaper on the Google Play, Just like how Nexus 4 was like $199 on T-Mobile but it was $299 on Play Store

I was hoping to get on but now i am gonna wait, don't want to get one from the carrier and get stuck on their 2 year contract

Customization is only exclusive for At&T for a few months then all of them will get it

I don't see the point of a Google play version though. It's already the same thing as stock android, and the few changes they did make, are nice and some of the main selling points (like the always on voice commands). Those won't be there in the Google play version. Maybe it will be cheaper though like you said. If it is as cheap as the Nexus 4, than it's something I'd consider.

^ The US carrier versions all have their bloatware on them, and won't receive the updates as quickly as the Google PLay version as the Carriers are the ones who decide when to send updates

BC was spot on with this phone tbh.

Getting a new one myself and I considered the Moto X along with the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG G2.

Moto X was the first one I eliminated because the major specs of the 3 phones were all superior to it. The only real advantage it has over other phones is that it will always receive every Android OS upgrade before any other phones. While I would love to have these upgrades, it wasn't enough.

I eventually ended up choosing the HTC One.

I got myself a Nexus 5 Smile , high end Specs snapdragon 800 (better then S4 and HTC One) , ok camera (not as good as S4 or Iphone but nevertheless good for what i take) , ok battery (average not bad not too amazing), first update to Android Software, and i love the how it feels and the size is perfect for me

and only $359 for 16gb on Play Store off contract

Cool, the Nexus 5 looks like an absolute beast. My sister is getting one as well. Best off-contract phone by a mile. I would purchase one to replace my S3 if it had a removable battery.

Decided against the Nexus for the same reason I decided against the S4....it's too big in size.

I prefer smaller sleeker phones so it ultimately came down to the HTC One and the LG G2, which virtually have the same exact specs.

I flipped a coin. HTC it was Laughing

Yeah a lot of my friends have the S4 and seem to like it, but just way too big for me

Im not big on/don't care much about specs

Things I actually use my cellphone for: texting, email, web-browsing, twitter, snapchat, vine, wikipedia, sticky-notes, and occasionally navigation or maps Laughing

Other than that I just want a long battery life

Don't exactly need GOAT specs for any of that right?

Pretty sure the Nexus 5 and the LG G2 are essentially the same size. The LG G2 might actually be bigger.

They are all the same size... Nexus just has less bezel

HTC One is 5.41in, LG G2 is 5.45in and Nexus 5 is 5.47in, S4 is 5.38 smallest of them all

HTC has big bezels compared to the other, it has 4.7 screen while all the others are closer to 5, LG one being 5.2in, and have smaller bezels

for some reason people think screen size= phone size...

If any of you are struggling for cash and are looking for a very good phone nevertheless. Then take a look at Motorola Moto G

it's a fantastic phone for that price. $137/£130 for 8gb version.
