We haven't seen enough of Illara and Modric together. Gonna make my final judgement after the Chelsea game.

Isco will play slightly deeper than Ozil. He will help bring the ball forward more than Ozil.

Illaramendi hasn't played much but there is no doubt in my mind he will easily overtake Khedira. Isco will be everywhere I think he will be the most important player to Carlo along with Modric

Most likely yes. Especially considering the price tag. Khedira has impressed though.

Do you really think that he will do what Khedira does ? He is more suited to Xabi's/Modric's role, dictating the play.

Illarra played in a 4231 all season long as the main defensive midfielder, doing the dirty work, tackles interception and providing the ball forward.

i tend to reserve my ideas until the transfer is actually concrete.

putting up formations with a double pivot of illarramendi and modric behind essentially 4 forwards (isco, ozil, ronaldo, and bale) yet none of them are true CFs just looks idiotic.

theres no midfield in there, no defensive pressing, its not going to work and carlo is smart enough to realize that.
