Completely messes up the roster though. A very good player or two are going to be sacrificed as a result of Bale coming imo. I don't even see it tactically yet unless CR7 goes to CF... which Carlo said he won't do. So who the frak knows.
The way he has been playing in friendlies sets us up nicely for a 442 diamond with 2 wide forwards ahead of a playmaker, with suitable options in midfield for a more defensive playstyle if needed, something similar to Ancelotti's first year at Chelsea. Ancelotti as we all know always has a secondary formation as well, so that will be interesting to see how it plays out.
If he continues on this path we are going to have one very attacking first 11.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
And the other concern about moving CR7 to CF to accommodate Bale... does CR7's ego get hurt? Does he start feeling that Madrid value Bale more than him?
This is not as silly as it sounds, believe me.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Probably something like:
-----Ronaldo---Bale
--Isco--------------Ozil
--------Modric--*
*Illarramendi/Casemiro/Khedira
Benzema's unfortunately the favourite to get benched in the current system.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
I think Isco can be better than Modric as the CM and it would allow Ozil to return central (he struggles on the right). Bale and CR7 can be the wing striker and Benz can dezone to his heart's content since CR7 and Bale would trample over him if he stayed in the box anyhow
It puts everyone more in their natural positions other than Isco and fits a little better.
In the other scenario, Ozil and CR7 are playing out of their preferred positions.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Isco's not really a CM. Not really a dictating player. Just someone who drops deep to pick up the ball or maybe starts off deep.

i think we will see the formation we saw against LaGalaxy but with bale taking kakas place I think. God knows what will happen to benz then who has looked really good in the past two games. Dimaria, ozil and isco will fight for the two playmaker positions who all deserve to be starters. Dimaria has an advantage in that he is extremely versatile. I can see Ozil suffering here who has mastered one position and is below pat/average in all others

Isco can be anything he wants imo. Easily the most impressive player in the preseason for Madrid. I am most amazed at his work rate... he really runs out there.

The way the three have been set up so far in training and friendlies it will be something like
Isco------Modric
----Illarra
Illarra for Casemiro or Alonso
Isco or Modric for Khedira and or Illarra/Casemiro if tactically needed
Going forward
Ronaldo---Bale
-------Ozil
Ozil for Isco, Jese, Di Maria, Kaka
Bale/Ronaldo for Benzema, Morata, Jese
But I have no idea how he will form his secondary formation as of yet so who knows, we will find out more later I guess. This is only based on how the teams have been set up thus far and only if he feels this is actually working.

The Times is reporting that Flo and Levy are meeting in Madrid on Wednesday. Spurs want 120 mil but Madrid refuse to pay a penny more than 100 mil according to the article.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Apparently the fee could be €120m with it being paid over 6 years, according to AS. The first payment would be €20m.
Levy doesn't want any players and just wants money.

I have to say i disagree tbh.
Bale's goals earned Spurs 25 points from 65. This is 38.5% of total. (+a game in hand)
In comparison, RVP earned 21 points from 85. This is 24.7%. Suarez - only 12, which is 21.8% of team's total.
And at the same time both of them scored more, than Gareth.

Crim... how about Cavani, Falcao, Ibra and Lewandowski? You have those too? It would be pretty interesting.
It's an impressive stat for Bale because he doesn't score 30+ goals like the others.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Jose Mourinho has revealed that he tried to persuade Real Madrid to sign Gareth Bale last year.
"I asked the club to buy him last season but it was not possible," said Mourinho.
"It looks like it is happening this season so I am happy for them because they get a fantastic player but, of course, the numbers are huge numbers and the kid has to go now and there's pressure to prove that he's worth that investment."
Mourinho believes Bale would have flourished in his Real side and expects his successor Carlo Ancelotti to make the most of the Welshman's talents if he moves to Spain.
"I think he's a fantastic player and the way my Real Madrid was playing, I think it was an easy player to fill a space and to get into that tactical dynamic," said Mourinho.
"I don't know what Carlo is thinking now but Carlo is an experienced coach and for sure will get the best out of him."

Being a match winner in the league is a big difference between being a match winner in the CL tbf.
I think a few of the Bayern and Dortmund players would argue against that.
I know Neymar hasn't played in the CL yet but we have all seen what he can do at International level.
Bale is clutch but i think there's a few i'd have over him, that's just me though.

Falcao - 31 from 76 = 40% of total and scored 28 goals
Cavani - 19 from 78 = 24% of total and scored 29 goals
Lewandowski - 16 from 66 = 24% of total and scored 24 goals
Ibrahimovic - 27 from 83 = 32% of total and scored 30 goals

Marca now saying Bale will cost around €100m, which will be paid in 5 instalments.
Spurs won't receive more than €25m this Summer.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Bale earned more pints because there aren't as many match winners at spurs. Michu at Swansea prob had ridiculous stats before Swansea fell off. Rvp has them stats despite burning out and not scoring for 8/9 games.
Stats mean nothing.. Bale had a great second half of last year but people forget that it's was rvp and shares dominating the talk of player of the year at the start of February.
This transfer is quite simply ridiculous... And disgusting at the same time

That's exactly what you and Crimson do; make up facts and figures in an attempt to validate your opinions.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
It's plain to see that Tottenham had none else to score for them for a large portion of the season. Naturally, Bale accounts for a larger percentage of their goals/game winners. I don't know if this is supposed to be some type of revelation.
Michu probably has similar numbers.
