It makes no sense whatsoever. Then again, these are probably the full effects of smoking some strong hashish for years.

Unless you look like Ribery/Tevez, anyone is marketable if you push them down the public's throats non-stop, as seems to be the case with Bale.

But you need a return on that though and +100m euros is a lot to expect from marketing a player as dull and uninteresting as Bale.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
please Madrid has enough half arsed low football IQ fans that will just eat up his price tag and think he is better then Ronaldo and buy a crap load of his jerseys just because he was so expensive and the "next" Ronaldo
(before Madrid fans become butt hurt this is not directed towards any posters of this forum, all big clubs have these same half arsed low football IQ fans, including my very own United )

If you're quoting that half arsed article on athletes then I'm going to have a laugh. The same one that posted Ronaldo 9th?
Here's some facts in terms of money made from endorsements over the last year in US dollars:
Ronaldo $22m
Messi $19m
Neymar Uncertain but his entire earnings were only $19m lol, less than what Messi and Ronaldo made from endorsements alone.
Bale $15m already, put him in a club like Madrid and I can see that increasing a fair amount.
Not to mention what it's worth in terms of sponsors and renegotiations in terms of kit sponsorship and tv marketing deals.
Don't take Real Madrid and Perez for a fool they know what they are doing.

Lol. Are you just picking numbers out of the air? It's amazing how people really overstate Bale's marketing appeal. Loony.

Ronaldo 8th in the world or 3rd highest football player, doesn't seem like a stretch to me. In any case I'm not arguing that the ranking is correct, only that Bale is not twice as marketable as Neymar.

Neither seem to corroborate the stinking bullshit you've posted.
It appears the Madridistas are desperately trying to buy into the marketing nonsense to justify the club paying a stupid amount of money for a player they know fine well won't make them back.
It may have worked for Ronaldo, but then he was an already established superstar and brand.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Crimson is a fake-rationalist. He likes to support his arguments with data and evidence, which is great and I'm all for it, but he usually makes that data and evidence up. Just like he did in this case about player's marketability. There's no source at all that claims Bale has more marketing income than Neymar.
Also, even if Bale made 15 milion $ in marketing income, Madrid would find it very difficult to get a return on a 120 milion euros investment, as I'm pretty sure Bale won't be so dumb as to share HIS marketing money with Real Madrid at 50%. Just like Cristiano did, who only shares his new image agreements and it seems he had very little of them while at madrid, as he renewed his old ones.

Ancelotti:
Harry Redknapp:
"We will see what happens; it is between the two clubs," said Ancelotti. "Right now our team is very strong and we will have to see what happens in the future."
Harry Redknapp:
'I think it'll be difficult for him not to go now," said Redknapp. "I think he wants to go if we're truthful. He doesn't want to say it, but I hear from different sources that he really wants to go now.
"When you're a kid and you start playing football you dream about playing for Real Madrid. When I was a kid I saw that great team of Ferenc Puskas, Francisco Gento, Alfredo Di Stefano.
"Real Madrid is a special club. The chance to run out at the Bernabeu only comes once in a lifetime, as Zinedine Zidane said the other day, you can't not take it.
"He is behind Messi and Ronaldo in terms of being the best player in the world.
"If he goes there, he will be a great success there. I am sure of that."

How exactly is he behind Messi and Ronaldo? There's plenty of better goalscorers than Bale.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
freecat ALL our players give 50% of their image rights to the club. Ronaldo when he was going to sign for us wanted 60% but perez was having none of it. There has never been a time under perez a player has gotten more than 50% of their image rights, bale will be no different lmao

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Yeah.... Bale will give up 50% of his rights like everyone. Neymar owns 100% of his and Barca only gets his revenue that involved Barca directly... Madrid get 50% of everything. That's why we pay so much for players and offer such high wages.
But players aren't stupid. 100% of a million is far less than 50% of 10 million. So they make out ahead too.
Also, Crimson's stats are never wrong. He uses good sources. He may only share the data that fits his argument... but we all do that. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Nice to see you both seem to have made up with each other.
