I prefer Higuain, think he probably a touch better finisher and both make great runs on the last defender/offside line.

I will give Higuain nod because I think he is a bit quicker and can run away from defenders when he is in and he is a decent final passer too.

I disagree. I think Soldado will score more just cause he will be the main focal striker on his team. Negredo will be rotating around with Jovetic/Dzeko/Aguero and will not feature as much. Also, per what we saw week 1, with Bale gone then that means Soldado will take the teams PKs. Soldado will score more (already up 1)

Windkick. Yeah, not much going around these parts. Regardless even if off topic I do like talking with you lot as you're the most intelligent around GL as far as I'm concerned.

Also, the penalty advantage might not be a great one for Soldado, Spurs got one this year and he tucked it away beautifully yes, but last year Spurs weren't awarded a single penalty.

So if you prefer Higuain right now, and you take into account he's younger and just about to enter his peak, wouldn't you agree that he is worth 7m more than Soldado?

Well Soldado price is way more than his worth as well. If Soldado is worth 26m pounds my left nut is easily 2m pounds. My left nut isn't worth 2m pounds.

I do think he's worth the 26m to Tottenham, but that's only because he's the last decent affordable striker out there for them to have snatched up and if they didn't buy him (and they NEEDED to pay that much for him), they would have stuck with Ade and Defoe for another year

But my point stands, anyhow.

No...because Soldado is also over priced. You would have a point if I thought Soldado went for good value too.

Also Higuain is not "just about to entire his peak". He is already at it, the Higuain you see now is the Higuain he will always be untill he declines.

The one and only improvement will/should/could be mental, where he doesnt waste chances in the most big games.

I am only talking about the relative pricing, not total. As in "Higgy is worth 7m more than Soldado". Hence, if Soldado went for 20 Higgy would be worth 27. Anyways my point was that if Napoli, Tottenham, Real, Monaco, etc are all over-paying then it just means player inflation is the new normal.

Awesome, Justin Bieber has always had a very high window and I'm honestly really happy we got him. I read Barca is also after Mexican midfielder Espericueta, not sure if true though but he looked like a mini Deco at the U-17 World Cup. A club like Barca could really help unlock his potential

I consider Higuain better by some distance. Technically better. Higher goal scoring ratio. More pace. Better link up player.

Actually Higuain can be an elite player if he can get over his one major weakness - flopping in big matches.

We won't be buying anyone. Likely not selling either. So no Barca transfer rumours to discuss.

I thought about this last night. We need one thread here for miscellaneous football discussions - mainly about non-Barca matters.

I of course know there is a general section but certain discussions are more enjoyable in niche groups.

You should of realised by now that the way I view transfers is completely different to how others do.

I dont believe "inflation is just the way it is".

I believe enough people THINK thats the way is has to be, so for most it is.

supply and demand... it's pure market economics and nothing is going to change that. A player is worth what someone is willing to pay for them. You and me may not agree with the valuation. But let's be real: The pricing of players has only been going in one direction the last 15 years and even a worldwide recession didn't slow it down much or for long...

There is no bubble in the players' transfer market. If there was one, it would have blown with the financial troubles...

There is a bubble but it has been less pronounced in football due to foreign capital being injected in European teams. You think the prices would have been this high without the likes of Chelsea, City, Saint Germain or Monaco, all with non-EU owners whose industries were not hit by recession? Certainly not.

TBH I dont agree and the subject of finance is the most boring in terms of football so I really cant be asked.

If you were in charge and Barca had one less forward (lets imagine we sold Tello or Alexis in the summer) would you sign Etoo back, if he accepted a rotational role and pay cut?

No harm in it provided the economics were met and he had not soured his relations with a good number of key people at the club.
