But it's not about whether he is or isn't worth 40m, it's whether the club is willing to pay that. If they're WILLING to fork out 40m for him, why wouldn't they just have chucked another 10 million quid onto that and got Cavani? Doesn't make any sense.

Too expensive and I kinda want Lukaku to play, our midfield is strong enough IMO to score goals if Lukaku fails within the first 6 months. But its still going to be more goals than Torres so its a win win.

As I said before, the day we stop signing players we need to improve the first team for the sake of unproven youngsters when we have no other viable options in that position is the day we may as well bend over to all of our rivals. Rooney is a proven top-drawer player, Lukaku isn't. The likelihood of us achieving our objectives without a truly quality center-forward in our team if pretty slim.

I was thinking the same way as you about lukaku's playing time, and really want to see him becoming a true blue. But he is honestly not even 21 yet, he knows he has to prove himself up to being no. 1 in the pecking order, Lukaku knows chelsea is not west ham. But with Rooney I believe we will have a striker that we all thought torres would have been back in '11- unless rooney= Torres 2.0 tun tun tun..... as samuel L. jackson in jurrasic park would say, "hold on to your butts...."

Oh man yes. Would be a very smart move, we'd have to get him to lower his wages though, he's on something astronomical. Might not be that bad if we signed him to a 1 year deal as he's oldish.

Exactly, Sign him to a 1-2 year deal, Slightly reduce his wages and play him as a main CF until Lukaku is ready.
