No, I was for it before the likes of Falcao and Cavani were off the market.

No. I've been Pro Rooney for a while now.
The only downside I see is his paycheck.

Wait, nvm, it's coming back to me now. I seem to remember you making the case for him months ago when I was staunchly against it before the top tier all went elsewhere

So his consistency, his constant downward spiral are not an issue?
Watch videos of him 3-4 seasons ago and you'll see an amazing player, nowadays he's still very good but oh so inconsistent. Unless we somehow get Torres off the books there's noway we should want him.

The same Rooney who scored 34 goals the season before last before RVP came in and stole his spot up top?

I would argue the case that a change of scenery would benefit him and could bring back the consistency.

That's a gamble. Not another one the club should be taking when we are still paying the price of our last 200k player who flopped hard.
If we're going to spend that sort of money on a transfer and wages why not get somebody who is actually still consistently good like Ibra.

Because Ibra won't move, is in his 30s and I don't think he'll be at the top much longer. Rooney is much younger, British and would sell so many more shirts than Ibra, alone.

Younger is not always better, i'd argue at their respective ages Rooney has dropped alot more than Ibra has, possibly due to his early exposure to the game or other factors.
If we bought Rooney i'd see that as us strengthening United, they'd have some extra cash which they could invest in their squad and RVP would be free to continue carrying them without Wooney complaining in the background.
And if we bring in Rooney where does Lukaku fit in? I fear we'd get another season of him being wasted and halter his progress.
As you can tell I'm just really not keen for him, I don't like him as a player and I don't think he'd add enough to the squad to make it worth wasting the money it would require to bring him in, the baggage it would bring with him and the strength it would add to united.

I don't agree at all. Losing Rooney would be a loss for any club. Also, He won't cost 50m if he does move so it won't leave much to add to Utd's squad. And whose to say they won't do something similar to Liverpool and panic buy a flop?
Also, RVP just needs one injury for them to be severely weakened.
Lukaku could Rotate with Rooney or even play alongside him. It certainly wouldn't kill his career, Torres and Ba would do a better job of that if we kept them and buy Rooney.

Well Kagawa is more than good enough to fill that gap that Rooney would leave in the squad, they've always done fine when they've had to rely on Welbeck/Hernandez as backup.
We obviously just rate him differently. I just don't think he's as good as he was, to me he's one of those players still living on the fact that he was an incredible player, he's still quality but he just doesn't show it week in week out.
I guess we'll see if we get him!

This was 2 weeks ago. You're getting rusty Sheddy V!Shed wrote:Mourinho sends off another thinly-veiled message to Wayne Rooney:
