Re: The Movie House - Part 3
The Lord of the Rings trilogy
OK, so when I was younger and whenever LOTR came on on tv, I would check it out quickly and be like: "WTF is this shit? Talking trees and ugly orcs fighting wars. This is not my thing." Totally oblivious to what the genre fantasy meant.
Fast forward to present time... And what I thought is a long drenched-out nonsense trilogy, is an absolute masterpiece.
Three brilliant films of great visuals, great score and an epic adventurous story to it. I haven't watched a lot of trilogies. I thought Nolan's batman trilogy will forever be my favourite. However, when I finished The Return of the King today. I was so amazed. It was 4 hours long, but the film took me in a tight grasp and never let go. It was brilliantly directed by Peter Jackson. Just so, so that it finishes off the story very well. Maybe credit should go to the author of the books there. But still massively great job done by Jackson over all 3 films. In a trilogy, the first one is usually the best, and as it goes on to the 2nd and the 3rd, the quality just gets weaker. But this is not the case in LOTR. I felt it just got better every single time.
As I said the third film really made it for me. It was absolutely phenomenal. I was an emotional wreck in that last 40 or so minutes. Not that the first two weren't that great, but something that the third one had is that little more emotion, plus Elijah Wood really came into is own and did the character, Frodo, justice. Viggo Mortensen also had a great performance in this one. And I loved the character Sam. Always there by Frodo's side. Helping him, and just always giving him that extra courage, hope and strength to complete their task. So many intriguing characters that a fantasy film/novel can create. One of them of course, Gullom/Smeagol. The ugly old fecker! LoL, but he played an important role in the trilogy. It is now my favourite trilogy of all time. And I certainly don't regret that I forced myself into watching something which I thought was a lot of crap.
My ratings:
The Fellowship of the Ring - 8.2/10
The Two Towers - 8.2/10
The Return of the King - 9.0/10
I'm not usually generous in my ratings, but these films truly deserve them high ratings. I rarely give 9+/10. To date I have only given 4 films that honour.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
- Spoiler:
- Was just watching Olympus has Fallen, and after It ended there was something I couldn't stop thinking about. The lead character(Gerard Butler)Got fired from his job, then after the terrorist attack occured he proceeded to kill atleast 15-20 terrorists atleast,Saved the Secretary of defence,Saved the president and his son,and saved 36 million people and all of South KOREA.
Now how do they reward him?Oh yeah,he gets his old job back and a handshake from the president.
If that happened in real life, they should give him like a free pass card, anything he wants to buy in the world is for free in any country he goes to.Also, any woman he wants to have sex with has to accept or she would go to jail.
But no,he would much rather prefer to handshake the President of the United States.
If that happened to me,After I'd saved the President;when he offers the handshake I'd give him the finger and kill him myself(My brother's idea)
Absolutely ridiculous.

12 Years a Slave has rocking atm at TFF
It's gonna win a few oscars, Already been compared to greats such as Schindler's List... and the cast is amazing, the underrated Chiwetel Ejiofor, Fassbender, Cumberbatch, Pitt and Giamatti ..... and directed by Steve McQueen (whose last 2 films were amazing)

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Steve Mcqueen is a fantastic director. Hunger and Shame were two amazing films, 12 Years A Slave looks like it's gonna outdo both. Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Picture, Best Writer Oscar nominations already being tipped. Really looking forward to watch it, that's a great cast there.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Finally finished Edgar Wright's trilogy...
Fecking epic. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are BOSSES!!! All three movies are worth watching. Shaun of the Dead is my favourite. The World's End started of very well, thought it was gonna trump Shaun of the Dead, but the end was a little bit disappointing. But still good.

Went to see Prisoners last night.
Powerhouse acting from Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman and Paul Dano.
One of them is going to be nominated for an Oscar...that much is clear.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Watched 'Gravity' on 3D today
This is definitely one of my favourite movies (I have watched tousands of movies) and surely could enter into others' all-time fav lists too.
The visuals are absolutely amazing and the 3D is utilized to enhance the viewing experience. I felt that I was exploring space with Sandra bullock and George Clooney.
The acting is great(Expecting a serious oscar shout-out for Bullock), the story and dialogue is simple so that any age-group can watch it.
Alfonso Cuaron shows us how to do the perfect film-making using every innovative technology to devastating effect.
Everything about this movie is perfect and you will be in the edge of your seat from the beginning to end.
There are a lot of things in this movie that were never used until now
This is HANDS DOWN THE BEST MOVIE OF 2013 AND WORTH EVERY PENNY WATCHING IT ON 3D.
I VERY VERY HIGHLY recommend ALL GL members to watch this film.

- MEGA SPOILERS:
- The only thing that can affect the ratings of this movie is the part where Matt comes back to Ryan and tells her about the landing technique. While this part caught me off balance, I had forgiven that and still this won't take anything away from the GOATness of this movie. But some of the audience won't like it. Anyway I cannot think of any other possible ways in which Ryan can be motivated to keep fighting

That is really weird. Another episode of Olympus Has Fallen + White House Down?
By the way, I feel like Dwayne Johnson is more like Kratos than Hercules.
