Laurent Blanc named new PSG manager
Good for his career.
But I guess that the Qataris weren't successfull at poaching a bigger name.

Did an outstanding job with Bordeaux and made Gourcuff look like the second coming of Zidane and Chamakh somewhat decent.
There's still a decent manager in there somewhere the French players at the last WC let him down immensely.

Re: Laurent Blanc named new PSG manager
PSG only wanted to give a 1 year deal and have the option for a 2nd year. No big name manager worthy of it was going to accept that... very naive of PSG to push for it.
If someone was going to accept a 2 year deal with only 1 year guaranteed, it had to be a coach like Blanc who has something to prove.

Blanc isn't racist and is a class manager. He had exceptional results with the French team (look at Deschamps now in comparison) and was champion with Bordeaux, bringing them to QF of CL (owning Bayern and Juventus in the process).
But for PSG , their standard is downgraded and good luck to them at trying to bring more foreign stars with a French coach.

His statements about putting quotas on Africans in the academies was very racist man.
I have no doubt hes a decent coach, but it is what it is.

This isn't racist at all. Enough of financing binationals players who will choose another selection after. Enough of taking always the same profile in academies, the tall and very athletic black player over the smaller and more technical player. This isn't track and run.

Which binational chose another nation THAT could have got into the french team? Honestly who? Every player who could have played for France chose France.
It was a racist statement by an hypocrite who can thank players of African descent for the Trophies he got.
The fact is training these players make French football better, and it is in the best interests of everyone that French football gets better. Better competition, better technique, better viewing.

Moussa Sow, for exemple. And this isn't even the debate, we are financing players playing for France in all youth team and then they end up in african teams. Our money is not meant to help other countries, we are not a cash cow for other countries.
How French football is getting better by training other country national team with our own money? How French football is getting better by recruiting youg players based on their physical abilities? I am sure our team can outrun, outjump, outthrow and outbox the spaniards in all various sport. But technique is crually lacking.

Re: Laurent Blanc named new PSG manager
the only part i agree with is the profiling that is done in the youth system... it is true that the stronger player is picked over the more technical ones in the earliest of the youth years. That's ridiculous.
As far as training binationals... personally, i feel that 90% of the best ones end up waiting to see if they get into France NT first before going for another team. You have a few exceptions here and there, but it's mostly true.
In the end, allowing binationals in ends up being in favor of France in terms of talent. That's not the problem. The profiling and training of kids is not good... strength over technique always. The problem is more with the direction the academies have set for themselves. That's where reform needs to occur.
Because let's face it. France of the 80s wouldn't be as good without Tigana, Tresor and Toure and the 98 team goes nowhere without Zidane, Thuram and Dessailly.

Moussa Sow loll . He has had one or 2 good seasons. Even Gignac , Gomis are better than him.
there mey be some exceptions but overall nobody will refuse France NT even if there is still a strong connection with the country of origin.

Re: Laurent Blanc named new PSG manager
If a player isn't patriotic, I'd rather not see him playing for the NT. But financing so many players with stages and formation and then seeing them ending up in other countries is very annoying by principle. The money is being diverted.

Most of these players you're talking are usually 2nd tier players. You won't see Zidane, Benzema, Ben Arfa ... refusing the NT. I won't blame players who realise that they don't have any future with France NT whereas they could be more useful with their '' 2nd '' country.
Overall France NT has more advantage by financing so '' many players '' because most of their legends right now come from there.

Re: Laurent Blanc named new PSG manager
It's not the players fault OLPower. It's the academies... they're the ones who are picking power over technique. You can't blame the kids or allowing binationals. That's only fair given we (as in France) shat all over their countries for years. Least we could do is give their kids opportunities. But to pick power over technique all the time is stupid.

belhanda and benatia are good enough to play for france IMO .
i'd even say that a level headed version of belhanda is what france needs in midfield .

Sow stood no chance of getting more than a cap or 2 and you know it.

It makes french football better because these guys make of ligue 1, and whether you like it or not, the domestic side is just as important as the national side.
