Re: Laurent Blanc new Roma manager
I'm sure Tottenham will, AVB has been outspoken about his desire to have a technical director at the club. His move is one that fits in line with what Tottenham had started last season by firing Redknapp and hiring AVB. A little bit more of a long-term success goal being implemented at Tottenham rather than shorter-term success. That's something Baldini can get in on and something that I quite like.

UPDATE:
- Vocegiallorossa.it puts the announcement of Roma's next coach as sometime mid-next week.
- Sabatini has confirmed that the new coach will very likely be foreign, ruling out Roberto Mancini, who is favored by the American Leadership and major shareholder Unicredit - Gianluca Di Marzio
- Di Marzio also reports that a new face has been linked with Roma and its former Paraguay and current Newell's Old Boys coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino. This comes in light of reports that there will be delays in time for Rudi Garcia to settle his contract situation with Lille and free himself up for Roma.
- ANSA Reporting that Rudi Garcia will not be on the Lille bench next season, further fueling possibilities that he will join Roma.
- Sabatini still has his eye on Marcelo Bielsa and Roberto Mancini as alternatives as though he likes Garcia, his lack of Serie A experience appears to be the sticking point. A salary of 1.4m with 1.2m additionally in bonuses is being pondered. - Sky Sport
- Roma have also categorically denied that Sabatini has resigned via their official twitter account. This was in response to a report by Sky Sports that alleged that Sabatini would resign if the American leadership and Unicredit chose Mancini over one of his choices.
- Multiple Spanish sources reported that Laurent Blanc is set to take over at Real Sociedad under a 2-year deal, ruling him out of the running officially for the Roma job, but now there's news that Jagoba Arrasate has been named the new Sociedad coach instead, putting Blanc back in the running, but with Roma unconvinced by him, he remains a distant choice.

Could be. Him asking for 4m a year is probably the only thing that is preventing him from getting the job though.

Re: Laurent Blanc new Roma manager
Bielsa is a nutcase. He would be a PR disaster. Roma needs a manager that can handle being the manager in a big city too... Bielsa is not it.
He's the kind of manager that gets lesser clubs to overachieve. His tactics wouldn't sell to top players imo.

'Tata' Martino for Roma job?
A new candidate has emerged in the race to take over at Roma – Newell’s Old Boys Coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino.
Today director of sport Walter Sabatini cut Roberto Mancini out of the running by stating “the new Coach will not be Italian, but rather is 90 per cent likely to be foreign.”
The top choices are believed to be Laurent Blanc and current Lille boss Rudi Garcia.
According to Sky Sport Italia, a new contender has emerged in the shape of Tata Martino.
The Argentine former player was Coach of Paraguay from 2007 to 2011, when he took over at club side Newell’s Old Boys.
He was voted South American Coach of the Year in 2007 and won the Paraguayan League title four times with two different clubs, Libertad and Cerro Porteno.
The 50-year-old is of Italian descent, so should be able to settle in
Rome.
