The agent of Benfica defender Lorenzo Melgarejo has revealed that Arsenal and Fenerbahce are showing interest in his client.

The Paraguayan footballer, who arrived at Estadio da Luz as a midfielder, has made the left-back position his own last season, but the Eagles are, nonetheless, prepared to cash in on him in the summer.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce were believed to be preparing a summer bid for the 22-year-old, but the player’s representative has suggested that Arsenal are also keen.

“Arsenal and Fenerbahce have enquired about Melgarejo, but so far there has been nothing concrete,” agent Huan Gabriel Appleyard explained to Radio Monumental.

Chelsea have won the race to sign Edinson Cavani from Napoli, with Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo reporting that the Blues have beaten Real Madrid to the Uruguayan.

The sports daily claim that Roman Abramovich is so close to finalising a deal that Jose Mourinho was almost able to announce the completion of the move in his press conference yesterday afternoon, his first since returning to Chelsea as manager, but that the transfer will be confirmed in the next few days.

AC Milan and Genoa are reportedly looking into a potential swap deal between Antonio Nocerino and Juraj Kucka.

The Rossoneri’s 28-year-old midfielder is apparently frustrated at a lack of first team football and wants to move on this summer.

According to Il Giornale, 26-year-old Kucka is high on the Milan side’s wanted list as they continue to reduce the age of the squad and the may offer Nocerino is a swap deal for the Slovakian.

Kucka, who is co-owned by Inter, made 33 appearances for Genoa last season as they narrowly avoided relegation, while Nocerino played in 26 games for Milan.

Real Madrid have told Italian champions Juventus that they’ll have to dig deep into their pockets if they want to sign Gonzalo Higuain.

The Old Lady are apparently preparing a €22m offer for the Argentine striker who wants to leave the Spanish capital.

However, Real President Florentino Perez insists the 25-year-old is worth much more than such a figure.

“If Juventus are thinking about offering €30m for him then it would be better if they don’t even turn up,” Perez is quoted as saying by Mediaset.

“That amount will not be enough.

“Saying that, we have not received any requests for the player – not even from Juventus.”

The Turin giants have started talks for the international though and are thought to have already agreed personal terms.

Arsenal are said to be interested in the centre-forward too.

Juventus have also been quoted €30m for Stevan Jovetic by Fiorentina given their interest in the Montenegro forward.

Inter are reportedly looking to offload Ezequiel Schelotto to Genoa in a part-exchange bid for Alberto Gilardino.

The 30-year-old striker, who was on loan at Bologna last season from the Grifone, is thought to be wanted by the Nerazzurri as cover for frontman Diego Milito.

According to Primo Canale Sport, Inter have been less than impressed by Schelotto’s contribution since he joined the club in January and are hoping to transfer him to Genoa.

Italian media are hardly reliable tbh, according to most of them Juve have signed Higuain already and are close to Jovetic aswell.

Yup we do but that is not the point, the point is Higuain hasn't had a good season for 2 years and he is not consistent preform not to mention he has gained weight. By this rate FEner should ask 30 mil for Krasic because he had a good season with Juve 2 years ago.... Consistency is the key for striker and Higuain hasn't had that long time I don't care if he has been sub or anything because if he was great as some of you guys make him out to be he would never end as a sub and Madrid was never going to search for striker 2 transfer windows in a row maybe more.

All I'm saying Perez is overpricing him he is not worth than 25 mils currently because of the reasons I stated above, he is good player quality one but not worth more than that.
