Meeting between Juventus and Real Madrid for Higuain is over. Seems Juventus still haven't raise their bid (22 mil in installements). Let's see next days

NEWEST:

17:06 - POSITIVE MEETING BETWEEN REAL AND JUVE - According to Sky Sports, the meeting between the leaders of Real and Juventus would be friendly, positive, but it would be the stage before the start of the negotiation, because the Blancos have yet to find the 'coach and do the technical choices. The Bianconeri would still have made it clear to the leadership Florentino Perez and merengue to be strongly interested in Gonzalo Higuain. Other rumors may arise during the afternoon and evening.

OLDER :

Reports from the Madrid summit claim Real agreed to instalment payments for Gonzalo Higuain, but Juventus must raise their €22m bid.

A delegation of Bianconeri, including President Andrea Agnelli and director Beppe Marotta, are in Madrid this afternoon for the charity match between Juventus and Real Madrid legends at the Bernabeu.

Also present were Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who often acts as an intermediary between Italian and Spanish clubs.

They were pictured having lunch at restaurant Puerta 57, which many assume was also the chance to discuss their interest in Higuain.

The restaurant placed curtains around the table and then closed to the public so the negotiations could continue.

According to the first reports emerging from Italian media, Real Madrid have agreed to the request for payment in instalments.

However, Juve must raise their €22m offer to at least €24m, which is the reported bid from Arsenal.

That's why RG... It's been hashed out over and over again with the few reasonable and well informed reporters in Spain that Madrid are only willing to listen to cash offers for Higuain. Heck, they even refused installment payments for Kaka in the last mercato by Milan. It's really no secret.

When you hear the word "installments" to any offer made to Madrid unless the offer is above market value, then it's pretty much dead... we're not talking about guys there is no market for like Gago. This is Higuain.

It's nothing to do with Juve. If Arsenal made that kind of offer, i'd call it out too.

Most transfers are paid in instalments yet its never reported as such, except when Juve are involved for some reason Laughing

Depends on the player Mole... you only see installment payments accepted for over-the-market offers or players that clubs are desperate to move and there's no market for them.

When you bid below the market AND installments for Higuain, it's a non-starter.

It's the net present value concept when you pay a higher amount but paid in the future.

And by this report the newest one from SKY you can see the problem is actually that you guys don't know who'll be your next coach :

Why would we pay in instalments? We never buy a player for more than 13m at best ( arshavin was the only exception). It's not hard to pay 8/9/10/11m straight up.

Arsene will never do that. We have added appearances/trophies clauses in the transfers but we don't do instalments. Never have.

I'll say it again... net present value. Juve have to bid higher than the all-cash offers for it to make sense. Only variable is if the player refuses to be sold unless it's to one club. But if there are no special circumstances, it's simple finance.

is funny how fans of Juve/Arsenal are begging their teams to fish in their pockets for 25-30mill to pay for guys like Jovetic, Lewa and El Pipa when these guys are guaranteed goals galore and are very experienced in the international stages and in Europe.......................................................

and then on the other side of the spectrum you have madrid fans begging their president not to splash 90mill on a one tricky pony. sometimes I wish we had wenger as our transfer guru

If you offer above the current market price (in total dollar terms) so that the NPV come out to the same for an all cash offer, Madrid would consider it obviously. Why not? But if you're offering the same as Arsenal and Arsenal is not asking for installments (according to reports that could be false), then it goes nowhere imo.

Of course, Italian press say "positive news" for anything.

I still remember every media in Italy over the winter saying "Kaka to Milan is agreed! He's already packed his bags!!!" Laughing

@Devi... Italian media speculating = argument is in the water Laughing

We have 70m cash to spend at minimum. It will be highly unlikely it will be instalments unless the player is worth 40m+

you don't get it do you? The point is that 30 mins and days ago you were all out saying Madrid never accepts installments, we only accept cash acting like you are present in the meetings and now after the news broke out that you accepted installments.

Few days ago even your old/new president said that Juve and Real are friendly clubs and that a deal will be reached lol

I mean that's the assumption... but you never know. It also doesn't seem that Higuain is against going to Arsenal. So if all things are equal, Madrid is going to take the most money imo... at least i would hope so. Why wouldn't they? They would have a hard time justifying it to the shareholders (socios) if they didn't.

That would be the intangible variable. But i am sure that Madrid have a very tangible minimum they are willing to accept to meet the wishes of a player...

Cadena Ser is saying that Madrid are offering Higuain + Cash + Napoli/madrid exhibition games for Cavani... so there's that too: http://www.topmercato.com/66661,1/real-madrid-higuain-propose-pour-cavani.html

Reto obviously had no future with us, this is a fantastic deal.

We're all waiting for the first piece of the CF/striker domino to fall... i think once one of the pieces if off the chess board, clubs will get more aggressive. Right now, it's a massive game of posturing.
