The divorce was years ago tbh. He's got a girlfriend now. Pretty sure she's American. Dunno much about his personal life beyond that.

He's in his prime age-wise, but he was not in the best form of his career. He also didn't fit our requirements for a vocal leader and organizer in defense (as Carragher did) and in the early part of the season struggled in adapting to our higher line.

This is great news for a barca fan. We get to keep one of the most solid keepers in the league who obviously knows the system like the back of his glove and we don't have to spend on a new GK this season. That's not to say we won't but now we don't have to, and we can reinforce other areas.

Thank god Valdes is not going to Monaco and staying in Barca.... double good news for me. Didn't want that stiff in L1 and he can keep making crucial mistakes to help us in clasicos

Don't think he had a good season, making many errors perhaps because he isn't committed.

Why waste time on him and let him go for nothing. Ship his ass out now and get someone who acually wants to play for the club.

It's not set in stone or anything, I think he is being sold this summer, personally, he hasn't ruled it out.

He did make some errors but I feel that if he really weren't committed then he wouldn't bother staying an extra season when he could easily score another bigger paycheck elsewhere. Like Albi said nothing is official yet though. Is he indispensable? Hell no. But he isn't garbage either and if he chooses to stay then I wouldn't say he's not fully committed. But if he isn't committed then I agree and he should just leave if he really wants to.

I don't think he is garbage either and we will miss him if well replace him poorly.

Howver I don't see how he can be committed to the same extent as everyone else. I know its not set in stone but I was sort of hoping he would like to leave and thus forcing us into action.

It doesn't help he has made no explanation as to why he wants go.

Its just funny to me how somone who made errors he has is there making annoucements like well should rejoice well get another year of his "great" service.

Yeah right. There are at least 5 keepers that are better than him easily... Mandanda, Ruffier, Landreau, Carrasso and Sirigu. I'm not even going into the young keepers that are better than him; just the established ones lol.
