Actually the team to beat for Grenier is not Arsenal. He wants clearcut path to immediate playing time since he's a NT player now and wants to give himself a shot at WC... the clubs to beat are Liverpool and Monaco for now. There are also whispers about Dortmund and Inter sniffing around.

If they persist with this 4-2-2-2 then Arteta-Ramsey-Wilshere-Cazorla is fine.

Get an experienced GK, replace Sagna if he goes, replace Diaby and get a quality striker and you are done.

It's not a priority but there must be some concerns about Rosicky's ability to maintain fitness and how long he'll actually continue playing for. Grenier would, eventually, become Rosicky's replacement if we signed him.

Also, Wenger may feel that he's a target he has to get in early before other clubs go in for him. Seems like he rates him very highly. No reason why we couldn't sign him this summer then loan him out for the season so he can get his desired playing time ahead of the World Cup.

Jay i was talking about Arteta/Diaby types.

Arteta because he can't go on for ever and Diaby because he can't last a day without getting injured.

Also i understand replacing Rosicky but even so if you persist with what you have then surely he will only play when Cazorla/Wilshere are not fit.

Sure Wilshere seems to be turning into a crock but hopefully he doesn't.

Stambouli is another stud although he struggled a bit this year. He's a DM that can also help at CB if needed.

I agree. Grenier would be an unnecessary signing this stage and it's difficult to see where he would fit into the squad next season or even the season after. But that's under the assumption we're going to use the same system next season. Who knows what Wenger actually has planned this summer.

Cazorla, I think, will play LAM mostly next season, even when Wilshere is not available. We used Chamberlain in centre midfield ahead of him when Arteta was injured when we could have easily pushed Rosicky back, play Cazorla centrally and move Podolski back to the left. So that does open up room for another AM. I'm not concerned about Wilshere's fitness since his recent op was just to remove the pin in his ankle and will only keep him out for a couple of weeks. He does take a lot of knocks but I think we'll manage him better if Rosicky stays fit.

I'd like James McCarthy, personally. He could easily play Arteta's or Ramsey's role in the side, wouldn't cost us a lot, has played in the Premier League and is still fairly young. Links with this sort of midfielder, though, have been few and far between.
