sportsczy wrote:Isimat-Mirin, a fantastic young CB prospect who plays for France U23, was bought as well.
Subasic was a very good keeper for them last year and, unless they get a big name, i'd stick with him.
They also bought Martial, who is one of the top 3 CF prospects in France for me. Paid 5 mil to Lyon for him, which pissed off all the Lyon fans lol. Aulas had to publicly appease them in fact.
Additional defense depth: Andrea Raggi (former Bologna), Tzavellas, Kagelmacher, Andreas Wolf (former Werder Bremen). If they sign a RB, which they are rumored to be, then it's good depth.
Midfield depth: Nabil Dirar, Jakob Poulsen and other depth type players. Frankly, they need to sign a couple more players here.
Forwards: Martial, Riviere (France U23 player), Valere Germain, Ibrahima Toure. Good depth with forwards and talented.
The starters should be:
Subasic
New RB- Isimat Mirin-Carvalho-Abidal
Toulalan-New CM
Moutinho
Rodriguez-Falcao-Ocampos
A RB and CM away from being complete imo.
And that Belgian kid? Yannick Carrasco (?).. I heard a lot of good things from him.

forgot carrasco. He's really good too. Also a forward. He will give Ocampos a run for his money in terms of starting... i thought he was better than Ocampos mostly last year. Only 19 too.

As much as i dislike Monaco, They don't represent ligue 1 yet. There are like 4 better teams if not 5 than them

They need time, they'll struggle in the 1st round of the french league then end the season in top 3.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
It's preseason. City lost to some south african team 2-0 this week.
Monaco has been playing kids mixed with some of the stars. They're also experimenting with the depth on defense to see who they should drop.
Really not that serious. It's a new team that just came up from Ligue 2. They're using these first few preseason games to see who is capable of playing in Ligue 1 so they don't run out of mercato time to sell and buy as needed. They've fielded about as crap a defense as you can put out there and playing a couple of CMs from last year to see if they can play.
When it's all settled, you'll see a rotation of Isimat, Abidal and Carvalho at CB. The fullbacks are a mess tbh. I'm sure they'll buy a couple. Likely Coentrao and Corchia.

They need a CM and fullbacks. Fabinho is not going to cut it lol. And how good is their GK? If they go with current squad, they won't make CL.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
a Colombian report has surfaced questioning whether Falcao is actually 27 years old – which is/was widely accepted as fact.
The primary school Falcao attended have produced documents suggesting that Falcao is indeed 29 years old – in that he was born in 1984 and not 1986.
This could throw up any number of controversies in Falcao’s career. Among them, would be the fact that he would have won the 2005 South American Youth (Under-20) Championship at the age of 21 and also participated in the Under-20 World Cup when overage.
There are also suggestions that Monaco have been duped into paying over the odds for Falcao, as they could be left with an older player on their hands than originally expected.
Radamel Falcao’s father has denied the claims, reaffirming the fact that his son is 27 years old and there was simply a clerical error at his school.

well what grade was he attending at that school and what year... not much anyone can say based on when Falcao attended.
If true, Falcao and his agent could get sued big time.

How do you think Spurs feel with Ade or Chelsea with Essien... there's not way those guys are the age they are reported to be.

Most African players aren't the age they're reported to be tbh. They decline pretty badly in their early 30's generally. The only two exceptions I've seen are Drogba & Eto'o.sportsczy wrote:How do you think Spurs feel with Ade or Chelsea with Essien... there's not way those guys are the age they are reported to be.

Somewhat Racist.
And don't tell me it isn't either. People assume Lukaku is in his 20's despite being Belgium born.

They decline quickly because the majority of the ones in Europe rely on their physical talent and athleticism.
Sure there will be some age cheats, particularly the ones who lived in poverty before they were discovered by scouts but I think it's ridiculous to assume MOST lie about their age. There's no way that's accurate.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
A ton of baseball players from South America and the Islands go to the MLB and have been lying about there age for years. It's a very common practice in the Islands, Central and South America for athletes.
I don't see why it has to be racist or anything, it's true. Most GM's in baseball here in the states basically add 2 years to prospects coming up from these countries as it's become such common practice.
Hell, I was at the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania when Danny Almonte was mowing 11 and 12 year old's down with his 80 MPH fastball when he was 14 or 15. It was so obvious, he was like a foot taller then everyone.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
People point to Essien, but the dude tore both his ACL's, so his decline wasn't exactly spontaneous. I don't see any reason to doubt Adebayor is 29 either lol.
But then again, it isn't unlikely.

Adebayor isn't 29 dude. He was starting for Metz at the age of 17 and was bought at the age of 19 by Monaco when Monaco was very good... everybody laughed about it in France. The joke was that he started shaving when he was 7
Same jokes for Essien.
It was sooooo common for African players to get fake birth certificates until just very recently. And it's not uncommon today either.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
Seriously, have you seen the teams they field for the U-17/U-21 tournaments? Its VERY obvious. I guess there's no way to know for sure than to ask an actual African who follows the sport and knows what its like in the grass roots.Gil wrote:Blue Barrett wrote:Most African players aren't the age they're reported to be tbh.
