Re: Syria
So this Mohammed al-Jolani is the new leader of Syria? Former ISIS member and who had $10m bounty on him by the US government.
US media is attempting to rebrand his image, that may have worked 20 years ago, but not today where government cannot work in the shadow due to plethora of media outlets.
US foreign policy is so rotten.

Re: Syria
Israel just started bombing and taking land, they are unreal
Israel took over the so called “Purple Line” which was abandoned in 1974 after a peace deal between Israel and Syria after the Yom Kippur War. The Israeli government says this move is aimed to create security for Israel and the settlements in the Golan Heights. https://t.co/8TR9pafMgi pic.twitter.com/BseGxqWgrQ

Re: Syria
I am laughing at these idiots on X who are celebrating that Syria is saved and shaming so called "Assadists."
Reality is there no good vs bad situation, the real world doesn't operate like the movies or comic book, it is bad vs bad.
It is a situation, between entities that have risen with violent force and will attempt to gain control with more force.
US allies such as Turkey, Egypt, and Israel all have dungons of imprisoned victims and their family members. These mopes will never mention that, or they might claim those prisoners are terrorists. Well what you know Assad also claims this. So did Saddam, but he used the word traitors instead of terrorists.
It always amazes me how many people operate on this black and white thinking.

Re: Syria
I'm surprised the US never pushed harder for the establishment of Kurdistan as a country, it'd be a pro-west, democratic, european-esque stronghold with expanded women's rights and a secular constitution in the middle east

That's all fine and dandy but how do you convince four nations, one of which is a NATO ally, to give up part of their country for the establishment of this state? it will never happen because of the same reason that Israel refuses to entertain the idea of a Palestinian state.
I'm pro Kurdistan too but let's be honest, best they can get is just more autonomy inside Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria because otherwise you'd have to ask these countries to give up on their own territorial integrity.

Re: Syria
dont know how exactly but if you're powerful enough anything can be done, they already held a referendum in Iraq didn't they? The US just didn't get involved enough because they didn't want to piss of Turkey and Iran and they felt the timing was off
Anyway regardless of how doable it is I just think it would be more beneficial for US to prioritize this endeavor than anything else they're doing in the middle east but their priorities aren't very clear to me
Turkey's Nato membership is very inconclusive, they often seem more out than in anyway and care about their interest only so not sure why we would worry about theirs.

Re: Syria
United States is powerful but that doesn't mean it can just dictate/force Turkey or any other country to cede territory for a Kurdistan state, the Turkish people would laugh at such proposal. it sounds as ridiculous as Trump asking Canada to give up their sovereignty and become one of their states.
Turkey is not always in line with Western interests but their proximity to Russia and NATO bases makes them a critical partner so US not wanting to piss them off is understandable.

Re: Syria
No US can definitely do it if they want to give Kurds a country if they want to, just look at Israel they can get away with anything.
Kurds have much more historical arguments for a country than most middle eastern country that exist today. The British empire fucked them over big time.
US foreign policy is based on profit maximization, chaos is the best policy in that regard.

Re: Syria
A sovereign Kurdistan in Northern Iraq is achievable, but this greater Kurdistan that would require Iran and Turkey to give up territory is a an irredentist pipe dream that would only plunge the region in further conflict.

Re: Syria
Dont know who this guy is but i agree on one point, which ive brought up before, us foreign policy run by the deep state and whoever is president is irrelevant. Thats why I doubt trump will stop it, and i dont buy into this pacifisim narrative, it's beyond him.

Re: Syria
Nobody is claiming Trump will stop it but he can definitely take the war to them with his appointments. people like Kash Patel or Tulsi, if they get confirmed, they'll absolutely sow chaos in their machinery. we'll see if Trump will be an obedient dog like the ones who came before him or we'll potentially see something different.
But obviously nobody is hopeful of massive changes. i'd say chances of deep state getting weakened under a Kamala administration would've been zero and under Trump at 10%. anyone would take the 10% when things are looking this bleak with the escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Re: Syria
I dont think Trump commented on Israel moving into Golan. He will not criticise them one bit, which leads me to believe any "peace" that he is seeking is on very favorable terms as far as Israel is concerned, which doesnt bode well for actual long-term peace in the region.
OK, I just found an article that says Trump was the only leader to recognize Golan Heights as Israel territory![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif)
Seems like his outlook is in line with the deep state agenda so...
