Good Podcasts/Vidoes/Documentaries and more
Share good podcasts/creators of videos and perhaps good documentaries in here, if you have any. I'm looking to broaden my knowledge in these areas, and this thread is for me as much as it is a thread to share these things for everyone to enjoy. Because...we should always be looking to broaden our knowledge and these things are all very entertaining ways to do so.
I highly suggest the podcast Radiolab http://www.radiolab.org/
Part of NPR. Anyone who knows some really good NPR shows go ahead and post as well. I'm more aware of the more "fun" NPR shows like A Prairie Home Companion and Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me.

Radiolab is a show about curiosity. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience.
Radiolab is heard around the country on over 300 stations. Check your local station for airtimes.

Can not believe I missed this gem of a thread
CB
My girlfriend recently told me about this podcast and while I have yet to check it out, it seems very interesting (http://www.npr.org/programs/ted-radio-hour/)
It is a combination of Ted Talks and NPR.
I also have started listening to a Podcast called "This American Life" - "492: Dr. Gilmer and Mr. Hyde 04.12.2013" was a very interesting listen.

Dom Glad to have you here.
Indeed, "This American Life" is one of the best shows on NPR and it's one I want to get involved in listening to. It's fantastic and I highly suggest continuing to listen to it, and I will try to listen to it when I have more time. In the meantime, check out Radiolab Dom, you will love it, I swear.
Also, that sounds great, I'll check it out. I love both TED talks and NPR

Wow, I completely forgot to mention Radiolab in my initial post - I had not heard of it until I read your thread, but it sounds marvelous and right up my alley.
Thanks again for creating this terrific thread...you never fail to impress

Hey guys I'd like to learn about American history a bit. Since I know nothing about America really. I live in Australia and study European society...
Any good docos you could recommend? And I seriously am a noob. I'm sure stuff I don't know you'd learn in school curriculum at 8 years of age.
I'd prefer docos to podcasts, just because they're a little more engaging and I probably don't require the high-brow info you get from lectures rather than docos.

Brilliant thread CB
I've been listening to radiolab, it's very rich in info. Lot of things I never knew about they discuss on this site.

I've found the youtube channel The RSA to be pretty interesting with some of their stuff. They have their longer stuff but being an impatient teenager I quite like the 10 minute, entertaining RSA Animates that they do. Here is an example:

Re: Good Podcasts/Vidoes/Documentaries and more
As I was driving home from Indiana last Spring, I stumbled across this brilliant NPR show in the Chicago area. I had never heard of it before because...it wasn't broadcasted near me. However, I heard it and I really, really liked it. I went home and occasionally I'd go on the interwebz and find a podcast and listen to it and all, but after a while I kind of forgot about it. Just recently I remembered the show and I thought I had to post it here to share with everyone because it really is great.
The Moth Radio Hour is an hour long show which focuses on storytelling. The Moth is a nonprofit organization that hosts these "story slams", similar to poetry slams, across many different cities. The best stories are chosen from these events and broadcasted during The Moth Radio Hour.
I think storytelling is one of the great...I don't know, things in life. I mean, I put it pretty close to music. Universally you'll find music, and similarly, you can go anywhere in the world and find people telling stories. I love books, that's another way to tell a story, but there is some magic in hearing a person tell a story out loud, on the spot, the way they want to tell it. Because there are so many things you simply can't do in text that you can actually talking. Anyway, enough about that, I just think it's great. Here is an example of something that might be on the show:
You can find the link to the site here: http://themoth.org/radio
And you can find a link to the Youtube channel that also has a bunch of these here: https://www.youtube.com/user/mothstories?feature=watch
I highly recommend checking either one out.
