But he is the best player in the world and will probably win it, because there is no standout performer at the two best teams of the season.
Scweinsteigger doesn't have a chance and shouldn't have it. He is not even the best player at bayern.
In red :
But the question is who's the most stand out Bayern player ? I didn't watch them very much in the league and i'm pretty sure that people who vote are going to focus on the CL's performances too.

I think he will. He's the best player on the best team for the season. Historically, that's who wins the ballon d'or regardless of others being better players.Bénin wrote:sportsczy wrote:It could very well be Ribery.
no way . He is terrific but he won't get so many votes
What people fail to realize is that individual success is largely defined by team success in a team sport. So being the best player on the best team plays a huge part in deciding...

Difficult decision. And there have always been controversies regarding the Ballon d'Or winners and always will be.
I would say Muller, Lewandowski or Mata (fantastic season, and if he wins EL and continues his good form in Confederations Cup and in Premier League next season, he could be a contender).

League points given (G+A)
Messi 36
Muller 5
Schweinsteiger 4
how do you get those stats when Müller already has 12 goals and 12 assists in the league?

Should be a Bayern player after their amazing season.
Hopefully Cris will be ahead of Messi this year since he's been better.

More hunger?
Messi has been carrying Barcelona this season, more than anybody ever did in any team, and has league title to show it. He just carried Barcelona through PSG with one leg and risking rest of the season for god sake.
Give him actual teammates who are hungry, and can perform.

Forget the hunger, give him actual teammates who are hungry, and can perform.
He has also been walking more than ever and our all-around teamplay has resented. Sometimes less is more, in this case, a bit less of Messi offesnive miracles, but more defending and off-the ball movemvent would probably more in terms of team performance. That's my opinion at least.

This isn't track&field, this is football, where quality determines your effectiveness. Some may need to run to perform, some not so much. Look at Pedro running like headless chicken two games, and then rest the third one. For what? For nothing.

Flawed logic. Not every player who runs a lot is a "headless chicken".

Messi will win it, no doubt. Best player in the world - won La Liga, got us to the CL-semi. Just look at the votes previous years - all South Americans will vote for Messi again, thats for sure. Thats about 40% of the votes.

Pedro isn't a headless chicken and actually he didn't even run much vs. Bayern. Our tactical pressing was terrible.
This isn't track&Field but running helps, you can't score ore defend if you don't move from the midfield circle (exaggeration to make a point). I'm a fan of Messi and I agree he needs to keep some energy reserves for the attack, but a better balance like Guardiola's first years is desirable.

Why is people saying Schweinsteigger? We were just destroyed by Bayern and I didn't notice Schweinsteigger aside from his defensive work that wasn't better than Javi Martinez.

A defender will never win the Ballon, till Messi retires.

Re: Who would you pick as Ballon d'or this season ?
Wasn't talking one or two games. He's scored 5 goals in the league last two seasons. I see him every game running just like a headless chicken, chasing when you shouldn't chase, being where you shouldn't be, running into a corner with the ball just to make a back pass etc. Sanchez actually has quality, and he has the hunger, he just needs confidence to apply it. Haven't seen quality like that from Pedro for god how long.free_cat wrote:Harmonica wrote:This isn't track&field, this is football, where quality determines your effectiveness. And again the problem isn't Messi, nor should he be criticized for something like defenders not actually being able to defend, at all.

If Borussia wins CL, Reus must be in the top3. The first 2 will be Ronaldo and Messi.(for the following 3 years min)

Zero outstanding candidates IMO
Because of this it should be given to Klopp or Heynckes

Ribery has to be in the top 3 this time around.
Robben would've been a good shout too but he hasn't played much in Bundesliga.

Hell you are pitty. You can't even take the smallest and most positive critique to your God Messi. Is he your secret lover or something?

What's with the personal remarks? You know that is the first sign when you are way out of the debate or discussion.

Oh wait i'm being stupid, how could I think that when he wasn't performing at 100% after coming back from an injury
see there we go again, you're letting Messi off because he was injured.
Yeah let's give him an award because if he wasn't injured then he might have made a difference in the CL
That sounds fair. Infact, when he retires we'll keep giving him balon d'ors because "if he wasn't retired, he would probably have been the best player anyway"

Sorry for the pitty part, I didn't mean it as an insult, but as an obsession with Messi. I take it back!
But the rest it's true, you are becoming a caricature. Surely, Messi doesn't do everything right, does he?

He was calm and composed whenever he had the ball.
In terms of who'd win it, it'd be Messi since statistically he's the best player and that's what the award is about.
