Champions League: Team of the Semi Finals
---------------Neuer
Lahm---Boateng----Subotic---Alaba
--------Javi/Piggy---------Gundogan
Robben-------Muller-------Reus
-------------Lewa
Bayern are just too good
Dante played 1 match so, couldn't put him there I guess...
Would've put Hummels, but that one mistake could've been costly, even though he beasted in the second leg
Lahm/Pizczcek was a hard one..
Robben and Muller were immense, enough said
Reus/Ribery was a bit tricky..went with Reus for the sake of diversity
Lewa 4 goals

Dude piggy was arguably the best player in the semis. How can you not have him on there?

Re: Champions League: Team of the Semi Finals
I think Schweinsteiger was better over the 2 legs than Gundogan. Also Neuer didn't really have much to do. Diego Lopez made some good saves over the 2 legs for Real Madrid.

Re: Champions League: Team of the Semi Finals
-------- Weidenfeller
-------Piszczek---Hummels---Dante----Alaba
Gündoğan-Javi
Błaszczykowski----Müller----Reus
------- Lewandowski
PizzaCheck faced a far more potent threat than Lahm who was coasting without any direct onset of attack and posed to moved central. As a RIGHTBACK. Piszcek was on another level and a man possessed. Hummels & Dante is obvious. Alaba as well since Schmelzer was good by his standards yet Alaba world class.
Ilkay with his 1st leg masterclass and 2nd leg composure and Javi for being the absolute fulcrum of thwarting and dominating the Barca play, backed by Osram's choice to build the midfield around him.
Kuba over Robben as Robben's one-footed predictability and horrid defensive displays by Alba and Adriano didn't convince me the least bit. Kuba created, pressed and caused havoc both legs. Mueller and Reus is obvious as despite Ribery's performances, Reus was a masterclass. Lewa is obvious as well..
Manager of the Leg was Osram by a country Mile as he composed Bayern more out of systematic performances rather than individual brilliance.

Re: Champions League: Team of the Semi Finals
Lopez
Lahm Dante Hummels
Javi Schweinsteiger Gundogan
Muller
Robben Lewandowski Reus
Lopez - I had chosen weidenfeller earlier but now that i start to think about it, the saves weidenfeller had to make werent that difficult and tbh he didnt have that many to make, whereas lopez made a couple of excellent saves that kept Real in the tie
Hummels - He is a very good player . Keeping such an attacking force at bay was no easy task but he did his job with panache
Gundogan- He is one of those players whose work you dont notice until you see the replays, but he was immense, his energy, technical ability, and intelligence were key to dortmunds performances
Robben- His was the best wing play ive seen from any player this season, he terrorised barca's defence, if walcott had even a 10th of robbens or riberys technical ability and intelligence he would a top 5 player in the premier league
Lewandowski - His finishing skills were unbelievable, I had never seen him play before last week but i now fully buy into the hype, hes an excellent player, maybe the next ibra with more mobility
Lahm Dante Hummels
Javi Schweinsteiger Gundogan

Re: Champions League: Team of the Semi Finals
Weidenfeller
Lahm Dante Hummels Alaba
Piggy Gundogan Martinez
Robben Lewa Reus
Lahm Dante Hummels Alaba
Piggy Gundogan Martinez
Robben Lewa Reus
Chose Martinez over Muller and made it a 4-3-3 as i felt Martinez was more important to Bayern's success albeit barely.
Was close to not picking any Bayern CBs due to how rarely they were tested and a lot of Bayerns defensive work is due to the immense work the midfield does.
Aside from the horrid back pass, Hummels was immense in both legs everything he does is magnified on this forum though.
Dante might have only played one leg but it was so good i couldn't ignore it, the rest speaks for itself.
