It comes down to the fact that it's simply more skillful to do it with a constrained budget rather than by an injection of money from new owners. Mind you it still requires skill to take that team to success and I think sometimes new rich teams are not given enough credit for it. Additionally I don't it's quite as bad as people make it out to be, I see it as evening the playing field, and it's not worse than the clubs that spend the same amounts due to their superior business practices.

Yeh but efficiency doesn't matter in football considering there's nothing wrong with spending money.
Spending money is a legitimate strategy in football.

Well, spending a lot of money to me is like using a cheat code, while working withing strict limits is the way that needs more thinking and strategy to reach the same results.

It really depends on what your club is oriented towards to be honest, if you are a for profit team like chelsea or man united for example its important that you are able to add value and create some wealth for your shareholders.
However if you are a club like Madrid which is a rich man's club, it is important for you to keep have the most entertainment and prestige as thats why people would pay dues in order to be associated with.
Then you have a club like barcelona/athletic bilbao which is more of a working man's nationalistic club, thats when its important that you further nationalistic causes be it developing your own native players and having them compete as a matter of national pride or attract more tourists to your region.
Heres another way to put it, if they had to choose between the two would it be better for FC Barcelona to just snatch 30 incredible kids from south america and teach them to play tiki taka or for it to snatch 30 above average catalan kids and teach them to play tiki taka? Im guessing the latter
How about if Chelsea or Manchester United are able to buy a team of non-english players for USD 100 MM for example or a an english team of USD 500 MM, who would they pick? Im guessing the former, unless the marketing losses from not having an englishman on the team outweigh the difference of USD 400 MM of course
