Re: Justified
Season 6 was the weakest tbh but the finale is among the best episodes of the show. I loved season 7.

Nah I'm still on season 2. Will finish eventually. Taking it slow.
One of the best things about Justified are the villains.

I like that when Raylan gets in a fight where the odds are against him, he often gets the crap beat out of him unlike Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire who suddenly turns into a savage thug (who weighs 86 pounds) and unrealistically beats on people twice his size.

Re: Justified
Margo Martindale is a masterful actress. Probably the best on the show along with Timothy Olyphant.
EDIT: And Walton Goggins, obviously.
EDIT: And Walton Goggins, obviously.
- Spoiler:
- S02E09: Her reaction to her son's death and Loretta leaving was amazing. The look she gives Raylan after he tells her she can't speak to Loretta goes from devastation to sorrow to sobering anger to complete disgust in ten seconds and she caps it off with a venomous "Let's go" as she turns to leave. People like her treat acting like their craft. So good.

Re: Justified
Yeah Margo Martindale is the 2nd best villain in the show after Boyd. Unbelievably good acting.
She's is in The Americans as well. Another amazing show that you should watch.

Re: Justified
On the 5th season now. So many great moments I wish I had cataloged here as I went along.
- Spoiler:
- Robert Quarles was a great villain. Genuinely creepy and had that magnetic presence whenever he was in a scene. Loved how he made Wynn Duffy a caged hyena of sorts. He had Duffy domesticated when we're so used to seeing him as a terrifying psychopath.
Elstin Limehouse is another great addition to the extended cast and I liked that they explored Noble's Holler through a few subplots, including the opening story about it when Arlo went up there and got his ass kicked.
Seeing Arlo's mental state deteriorate as dementia overcame him gradually was utterly sad. Him shooting the state trooper who could have been Raylan and his last words to his son, "kiss my ass." Couldn't have expected a more sour, twisted note for them to end on only for Raylan to find out some of the decent things his father did like protect his mother's honor in a story he had heard with a different narrative that painted Arlo as the dickhead he usually is.
Boyd is the GOAT villain. His "I am the outlaw" speech to those rich pricks was goose-bump-inducing. His shorter "put your foot down!" speech to Dewey Crowe in S05E03 when his cousins come up from Florida and start taking over his business was another great one.
Also, f***ing Winona.

Re: Justified
Just finished. Think I picked it up like 4 or 5 years ago lol. This is how I am with shows though.
Last season was great. Better than season 5, but seasons 2-4 are the best. I enjoyed Markham as a villain and Steenburgen was a welcome guest star.
I would say 2>4>3>6>5>1 off the top of my head. Mind, I haven't watched some of those seasons in over two years.
Definitely one of my favorite shows. Fantastic writing and really...the characters and especially Walton Goggins and Timothy Olyphant carry the show. Boyd is an incredible antagonist, and Raylan the ultimate badass protagonist.
I felt good about the way it ended. End of an era for me.
"We dug coal together". They always stayed very true to the atmosphere of the show and Harlan, and that might be one of my favorite things about the show. Arkansas, Kentucky, and the hills of the Appalachian mountains, the Ozarks etc I think are probably the most underutilized settings in movies/shows. You can create some incredible stories with the setting.
I would suggest to anyone who enjoyed Justified to check out the movie Winters Bone.

Re: Justified
Just finished it. Watched the first 5 seasons and then restarted it with my girlfriend so we could finish the last season together.
I'd have to say, having reflected on each episode 2-3 times that it goes
2>4/6>3>5>1 which is a really healthy reflection of how damn good the show was. Easily in my top 5 favorites and probably the most underrated show I've watched just judging by how much more attention it deserved.
I can't recall a more quotable show but if I had to pick a favorite from one character it'd go something like
Pretty much anything Boyd and Raylan said is classic material. Boyd's "You are a slave" speech before killing Nucky Thompson's brother was fantastic. Raylan's showdown with Boone was incredible. They really managed to squeeze Boone in as a genuinely creepy, Ramsey-esque vulture looking to get a showdown and kill Raylan with so few episodes.
I greatly enjoyed the ending and was surprised they went that route but the very last scene hit me so hard. Very difficult to end a show that long that well but they wrapped it up very neatly.

- Spoiler:
Raylan: Either you let me go or I'm gonna have to give you the slip.
Tim: I love this shit. This shit gets me hard.
Raylan: Well, we've both been warned.
Wynn Duffy: JESUS CHRIST!
Boyd: Sometimes being a man means knowing when to put your foot down. Well, put your foot down, Dewey Crowe!
Raylan: Honestly, I'd rather stick my dick in a blender.
Art: Well, that might actually solve a few problems.
Boyd: You can trust me!
Wynn Duffy: See, I don't even trust the way you said I can trust you just now.
Raylan: Shit.
Winona: Yeah, that's what every girl wants to hear after sex... Regret.
*Raylan ties Boyd to a tree*
Boyd: I've come to a conclusion; I don't like you, Raylan.
Nicky Augustine to Boyd: I'm going to need Google translate to speak to you.
Raylan: Next one's coming faster.
(and later at the office when the detective investigating Raylan laughs and says that that is "the coolest shit I've ever heard")
Raylan: Ever since I was a kid, I remember you had a face like a statue when you got bad news.
Arlo: Can't help I'm good lookin'.
Raylan: You meet an asshole in the morning, you've met an asshole. You meet assholes all day then you're the asshole.
"Wonderful things can happen when you plant the seeds of distrust in a garden of assholes."'
Dewey Crow: You mean I got four kidneys?!
Bartender: You only get drinks in this bar if you show your badge or your tits.
Raylan: Alright, Art. Show 'em your tits.
Boyd: You're not taking me seriously, daddy, and I do not find that amusing.
Bo: It's funny. I was just about to say the same God damn thing.
Mags: Now sit down and listen to my counter-offer while there's still pieces of you big enough to find.
"We dug coal together."
Dewey: You may think I'm stupid.............. But I'm not.
Robert Quarles: Give me a GOD-DAMN AMEN.

Great quotes. It makes me want to rewatch it again soon.
One of my favorite scenes is towards the end of the second episode of season five when Hot Rod shows up to confront Raylan. That was one of the most bad ass dialogues in the entire series.

God damn just reading those quotes again.
Such a glorious show, definintely deserves more watchers and fans.
I remember I used to jot down quotes as well on my old phone as I was watching the show. Will see if they're still on there.

Re: Justified
I'll miss Boyd saying "Helloooo Rehylen" every couple of episodes.
If I included every great line, I'd probably end up quoting entire pages of the scripts they were reading off of.
Also, now that I've finished the show and read through the thread without worry of spoilers, I 100% agree that season 5 was the weakest and Darryl Crowe Jr's forced Floridian accent was so annoying and distracting. He just couldn't carry the mantle that other great villains in the show held.
Besides the main villains, there were some great, more minor antagonists like Colton Rhodes, Boone, Dickie Bennett, Nicky Augustine etc.
And how about a hell yeah for Arlo's last words being "kiss my ass"? That had me laughing during an emotional scene.

Just started this and I can't believe I never got into it before. What an incredible show. On season 2 and Boyd is one of the best characters in any show.
Also how incredibly hot is Winona? Have to keep my mouth shut whenever she comes on screen ffs. Miss watching shows as a single man.

RG you started it at a perfect time. They are doing a Justified sequel mini-series. Raylan is coming back for 1 more season sometime this year.
Might have to do a re-watch myself.

Re: Justified
Finished it and good god. What an absolute fantastic show. Elite level. Top tier. One of the best ever I've seen.
Boyd and Raylan with the best protagonist/antagonist relationship in any medium. It also has the best set of side characters.
I can't believe how satisfying the ending was. It's rare for a show to have more than 5 seasons and still finish strongly but this probably has the best ending that could have worked
When they said "we dug coal together" ffs nearly cried.
10/10

Not the best show I've ever watched but it is 100% my favourite, just so satisfying, loved most of the major characters
You should try The Shield which iirc is where Walton Goggins (Boyd's) actor started out, he's great in that too
also has one of the greatest endings of all time like Justified
