Re: La Liga Team of the Season
Arq with the Basque Hipster team
I think Laporte and Ingio have great futures Arq but I wouldn't put them in a team of the season over Barca's Madrid's Malaga's and Atleti's best CBs. Perhaps in the future
Not going to comment on Damia I simply haven't seen enough of him this season, mostly because I only watch Ossasuna games when Madrid play
Benat and Prieto are a joy to watch, I have them in my special mentions list
Montanier has done a great job at La Real so far so I agree with having him as coach. He's up there with Pepe Mel, Pellegrini, Simione, Tito and Jose. Bielsa would be in the list as well if he were a better man manager

Busquets was not an easy choice for me either, he has been inconsistent and frankly dropped a level from the previous year, but I have not watched enough RS to warrant the place to Illaramendi
Also Iraizoz? Didn't he get booed by his own fans?
Who hasn't been booed this season by Bilbaias? These guys are great supporters atmospherically yet very fickle and unforgiving when things consistently aren't going their way. Athletic would be relegated without Iraizoz.
I chose Illaramendi over Camacho as both have been equally excellent defensively yet Illara edges it due to his distribution all over the field. Busquets still ahead of them at the moment

I agree completely except i prefer Demechelis or Inigo to Ramos
But as i said i haven't watched as much as i'd like to this year so my view might be skewed a bit.
I wanted to put Alonso over Biscuits but stopped because that would've been to biased of me
Honestly for the CBs it's pretty much open to preference imo there have been no stand outs for me at least just plenty of solid performers over the course of the season.

Also, there's not enough love for Atletico on this thread. In fact there's almost no love at all. You don't get to 2nd for most of the season by having average players.

No no Zeal if I wanted a Basque hipster team then I would have had Greizmann over CR, Illaramendi over Busi, Aurtunexte over Damia, and Alonso over Iniesta etc
Barca and Real's CBs? They don't hold a candle to what these CBs have been and done this season. Not even close bar maybe Varane as both of them have been near flawless bar Laporte's Red card. Malaga are superior as a team unit as like Atletico they haven't impressed me individually rather than as a unit.
Agree with the rest though.

Re: La Liga Team of the Season
this would be mine:
Goalie: Courtois- Atleti are this high up because of him and would have never bowed out of the EL had he started. If we didn't have Iker id have loved if we got this guy. he is practically begging for it by allowing Ronaldo some freekick goals
RB: Martinez- I haven't watched that many Sociedad games but he has impressed me, he is very solid and great attaking wise him and his CB partner usually leave q big gaping hole between them which could explain Sociedads horrible away form
RCB: I am going to go with Miranda here. he does have some shaky moments but mostly he is very reliable he scores some goals as well great player
LCB: Welligton he is like Khedira...quietly goes about his business without fuss...he can be a thug sometimes tho but you have to sometimes no?? I like Hector Moreno of Espanyol as well goat player
DM: Toulalan, a real fighter goes into tackles like a mixture of brave scotty Brave Scotty Brave Scotty Parker and lion heart Terry. he is really slow tho but he makes that up with his understanding of the game and hustling
LB: this is honestly between Filipe and Cacktrao altho that Levante LB is great. I am going to go with Filipe not because I hate cacktrao but because Filipe knows how to both attack and defend and he can actually give an accurate cross for a change. Marcelgoat where art thou
CM: i honestly would have gone with Khedira hadn't it been for the fact that Mou has rested him more times than he has games I don't know nobody has impressed me I thought Xavi has improved from last season but it still doesn't warrant a place in team of the "season". Mario Suarez hasn't impressed me either in Atletis crunch games I am gonna go with Benat then. everytime I watch this guy he has been able to control the midfield.
RW: DiMaria nah joking. nobody has actually impressed me. somebody give me a RW that has been good all season
AM: Missi
LW: Ronaldo
CF:

Midfield was hard to pick. In the end i couldn't pick one between the two choices.
Defence. Mallo could have replaced Alves had he not broken his leg. Varane could have gone in if he played more. Maybe Coentrao at LB since he have had a solid season.
Upfront. U can easily put Isco on the right and move messi in the middle but rather have falcao in.

I don't know whether you are referring to my comment you can be a challenge one day you are a closet barca fan then next you are an anti-cule
I did say he has improved but not nearly enough to feature in a team of the season

He has been really influential this season. But like i have it in my team. He isn't a definite starter. but he has been very good nevertheless

Re: La Liga Team of the Season
Alves has been a bit inconsistent this season, so any RB who's done well can replace him.
Xavi's just been Xavi this season.
If Falcao can be there based on half a seasons performances, than so can Varane.

Did someone throw water in a power socket or something?
Falcao has started 26 La Liga games...scoring 22...
Varane has played 11.

Re: La Liga Team of the Season
Falcao's stats sound good and they're good enough to put him in the team of the season, but he hasn't been as consistent as he was in the first half of the season. Although I guess his overall record will be enough for him
Falcao has scored 5 of those 22 goals since January. So even if he isn't performing (scoring goals in his case), his overall stats will always look good.

Doesnt really matter..in the end, he has 22 goals in 26 games...he should be in..unless you omit him for formation reason which is acceptable.
And on top of that, the stat is deceiving..in 2013 he has 5 goals in 10 games..which is pretty good and sounds alot better than "5 goals in since Jan"
If you omit him, its not for performance reasons..its for formation ones..otherwise I dont get where your coming from.
