PSG vs Barcelona

I personally felt that Carlo should play 3 CBs and have Lavezzi and Lucas serve as wingbacks. You can then put in Chantome to help Matuidi and Verratti. Jallet and Maxwell are useless anyhow.

3 man defense is way too advanced of a tactical scheme for PSG to play at this point. they are barely figuring it out tactically.

People tend to forget how Barca was in the 90's. You should realize that you will never have another Xavi/Messi/Iniesta/Puyol coming from the youth ranks.

I always chucked at that.

People talk as if its luck we have those players. Its called great scouting, hard work, great coaching and having the right ideals to use the players.

like we were looking at a world class player when we were watching Iniesta or Xavi at 21 years old right?

I think he's referring to the next generation.

I think you get lucky if you work hard and give yourself the chance to get lucky. Barca did a great job scouting and developing players... and hit the jackpot with this generation.

What happens of the next generation is not as talented? I assume Barca will have to spend more on buying players from the outside. That's what big clubs do. Nothing wrong with that.

As was I, he has no idea what kind of players are coming up next.

Will we have 5,6 players of this calibre at the same time? No probably not..but thats why its a golden generation, your lucky if you get even one.

He is saying he dont see players coming through to fill roles..how would he know? Said players are like 12 years old right now.

That's not what he's talking about. Not close at all really.

He's talking about the production of the La Masia youth academy and how it produced a fantastic crop of players within the same generation and how it may be difficult to replicate that sort of production seeing as many believe that the players produced such as Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi are once in a generation players.

It has nothing to do with Ronaldo or the 90s, it was just a clear state that Barca did not always have this level of quality coming out of the youth team during that time and how things were different.

It shows what happens to our game when we have unoccupied zones. The moment Messi came in the change we could see. He went and straight away occupy the zone behind Villa, that brought Villa and Pedro back to game. We could see suddenly they were pressing. People say Villa does not put pressure on defenses. I tend to disagree. villa presses really when within his zone. he does not do a Alexis, who will be running all over the place trying to close down opponents.

The biggest mistake for me was to have Cesc and Villa playing together. They have no understanding at all. When Messi and Villa play together, they always switch their place and will not occupy the same position at the same time. Here Cesc was sometimes occupying the same position as Villa at other times he was standing along with Xavi, for what I don’t know. Sanchez should have been a better starter with Cesc than Villa because he has a habit of covering the positions vacated by Cesc.

I thought Batra did really well after coming on. We have to keep giving him more playing time. For me the Man of the Match for us was Jordi Alba. he was brilliant in the match.

It's quite funny how Barca's greatest strength has also became their greatest weakness. Kinda like how the Lakers team is atm with Kobe Byrant. When Messi is having a bad day in the office or injured, Barca look pretty average. Relying exclusively on one person for goals and creativity is never healthy for any sport club.

And just like Kobe, it would be pretty stupid not to rely on someone of that level.

I think the titles won already prove that.
