Re: PSG vs Barcelona
They couldn't score if Messi didn't come.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
PSG did a great job with zonal marking without Messi - not really individual danger so they could pull it off. With Messi coming on, they had to dedicate two defenders on Messi, giving space on the lefthand side. Iniesta & Villa made centre to left runs ripping the defense apart and creating chances. Messi really changes to game: not just how he play, but what the opposite has to do to stop or exclude him from getting any action. I think we did OK the first half. Nothing special. Again, great job from PSG.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Convinced that Barca are hardly the team they are without Messi. Not only a psychological advantage but changed the game right away when he came on.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
My thoughts were proven to be correct tonight; without Messi, Barca is pretty much average in offense.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Barca have some tactical advantages going for them without Messi as they interchange for frequently, don't have to focus too central and can expose teams on the wide since Messi demands possession centrally along with a more dynamic sense of play.
What they miss without him is his obvious decisiveness and ability to direct play since he is their only False 9 and essential link to the frontline despite their interchanging positions to re-enact each others roles.
Yet it was clear today what he provides for them as no coincidence how Barca changed with him on.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Messi simply puts fear in other teams forcing them to make mistakes which they normally wouldn't. He is that good

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
People always rave about how Iniesta and Xavi are assist machines, but for me, Messi is far much better than them combined. He is just on another level with his vision and creativity. Probably up there with Ronaldinho.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
I'm sick of Messi right now.
Apparently what my favorite team is right now they own it largely to one person. All everyone related to Barca has to do is mention him at his prayers at night

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
So how about PSG? With all the rubbish thrown its way, it's time to give respect to the management of the club. They have money.... yes. But they have spent like football people because it is managed by football people. Nothing like City. The investments are in Verratti, Lucas, Pastore and Matuidi for the future + Ibra, Silva and Lavezzi for the immediate.
There's logic to this team.

It's because of MEssi that you have been able to be this good for this long. before that it was Roni.billy_gr wrote:I'm sick of Messi right now.

PSG didn't escape my eye Sport, they are legit (to me). Really, vast amounts of resources and knowing how to use it make for a rather loving couple.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Their youth product, former captain Sakho is on the bench. How can you respect a team like that? They want to buy glory. To hell with them, no matter how well they played.sportsczy wrote:So how about PSG? With all the rubbish thrown its way, it's time to give respect to the management of the club. PS: I hope they get hit by Financial Fair Play.

Isn't Sahko on the bench because of Carlo?

there were times where others contributed significantly. I am not ungratefull to Messi, but surely even a Madrid fan can see how the balance has changed in this team. Nowadays if Messi doesn't lift his toe, nothing happens. Certainly it wasn't like this in the Dinho years

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
He was PSG's star player a couple of seasons ago. There came money, and all people care about is instant glory. I like a team with longevity hence I respect a team without a title like Arsenal much more than a team like PSG who's trying to buy glory at all costs.

Sakho is on the bench because of Carlo, nothing else. He was terrible last year and deserved to be benched tbh. This year... it makes no sense other than he's made bad public comments about Carlo.
Big reason I don't think Carlo is going to be sacked this summer. PSG do not want to lose Sakho... but they will if he stays.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
please shut up, you think Barca would win with QPR budget? you are buying success just like any other team in football. Stop pretending that you stand on higher grounds than other teams. Every big team buy glory, it's time to take off the tinted glassesdanyjr wrote:Their youth product, former captain Sakho is on the bench. How can you respect a team like that? They want to buy glory. This is what I know. Sahko's play last season was not that good. Not sure about this season as I don't follow PSG like I did last year but I personally would pick him over Alex literally any day.

I agree. The issue is bad blood between him and Carlo. It's personal at this point... not footy. Sakho is better than Alex at literally everything except taking free kicks lol.
Mourinho had similar issues in Madrid. Elite managers have big egos and you can't ruffle them publicly.

It also doesnt serve Sakho that Alex was brilliant tonight, his constant whining doesnt look good on him tonight

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
I personally felt that Carlo should play 3 CBs and have Lavezzi and Lucas serve as wingbacks. You can then put in Chantome to help Matuidi and Verratti. Jallet and Maxwell are useless anyhow.
