Everyone's into that style lately. Oval are kinda overatted, IMO.

I find this very interesting. Of course, if FIFA didnt suck and Spain was awarded the 2018 World Cup, the Bernabeu would have something great to prepare for. But anyway. If you think about it, when the great era of glory ushered in by Mou is at its peak and we've won trebles etc, ( Wink ), the ESB would be the home of all this, along with the all-conquering Spanish NT. Very fitting then for it to be renovated, in time for the election or in a more long term scale the Olympic Bid. The roof thing has been going on for ages, but the facade(s) could really do with some cleaning up and the commercial stuff is always a good idea.

The Bernabeau cost about 200 000 euros (obviously paid for in pasetas).
So, I feel the revanmps should cost no more than 150k

As long as the fans are on close to the field and it emphasizes the fan experience for watching the game first... no problem. Not raising ticket prices is a must too. They're already expensive enough.

I dont like that. The commercial centre, offices, shops etc should be in a seperate building, doing that ruins the basic shape of a football stadium. And the facade needs cleaning up, but not a whole new one with straight lines. Its Marca, so we shouldnt worry.

The picture of the facade on marca's page is just a representation, not what the improvements will be like.

But everything describing the new structure of the offices etc... is right, as you can read on the first page, EC pulled it out first. They might be getting the infos from the plan the City council approved.

nothing is made up here.

UPDATE

According to AS (Roncero), we really might have to be an hotel attached to the stadium.

he described an 30000 m^2 area converted into a center commercial, luxury restaurants and a 5-star hotel with suits giving on the pitch scratch

He says there are stadium like that already in england, anybody can confirm?

otherwise, confirming that the facade will be revamped.

Perez will present the project to the socios on the 24th. that part of the project is waiting approval

I think elmystique is right Stamford Bridge fits your description. Perez is doing everything he can to drop money out of people's pockets. Money is good is good.

If indeed this goes through and it happens to be as awesome as the mockups then the Santiago Bernabeu should be included among the Wonders of the World Razz

This sucks.

The Bernabeu could do with some cleaning up and refurbishment, but nothing like that defacing on a grand scale. I will try and make sure to visit it before Perez screws it up. When will works begin, and how long will they take?

According to reports by the Spanish  newspaper ABC, the project will completely transform the facade of the stadium that faces onto Paseo de la Castellana, one of the Spanish capital's main thoroughfares. The club's president, Florentino Perez, plans to hold a competition where top-level international architects can present their ideas on how they imagine Bernabeu in the twenty-first century. Names being mentioned include Rafael Moneo, Santiago Calatrava and Ieoh Ming Pei, the Chinese American architect who is the master mind behind such projects as the John F. Kennedy Library, the Louvre pyramid and Madrid's Space Tower skyscraper

http://www.espormadrid.es/2009/09/una-posible-reforma-del-estadio.html

If you google his name and bernabeu you get a lot of results. Some say Perez wants him and only him, some say there will be a competition, some say there is a short list of a few architects that he's on.

It doesn't hurt that he's Spanish
