Madrid to sue catalan TV station over Hyena video for 6M euros

While in bad taste I'm not sure what's the legal reasoning behind this? Doesn't look like anything illegal to me. In addition to the main suit they're also suing for misuse of public funds as TV3 is a government station.

I really enjoyed watching that video 
Also this is the biggest example of Madriditis you can find. 15 points ahead in the league and the only thing Catalan TV can talk about is Madrid

Well considering Barca's days in Europe are numbered they better get their media to make new Rivalry videos because they're going to have a lot less to talk about

Defamation of character is pretty serious... it's both criminal and civil in the US. Guess the laws are the same on the civil side in Spain.
This one seems pretty cut and dry too.
It's one thing for fans to fling derogatory crap at each other... that's just part of the game. But clubs, media, institutions, etc... not so good if it's over the top. You will get sued and rightfully so. Because the impact is broader, there's actual damages you can go after.

i think they and all football parody tv shows should be sued for being terribly terribly unfunny.

Appeal court dismissed Madrid's complaint about video of Catalan tv comparing Madrid players to hyenas for violent behaviour in clasicos.
note: madrid had asked 6M for hyenas video, first sentence gave them 0,02M, appeal sentence force them to pay all legal costs #fcblive
Maybe Spain has still hope.
