Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
are you serious, i have barely posted a single line post in this thread just so i could make my opinion clear. yet you tried to categorize me as a gloryhunter madrid fan who had no idea how magnificent of a coach carlo is. maybe if you dont get into discussion with preconceived ideas of what people think or who they are, you would know better. i shouldnt have to tell you that i have disliked mourinho for about the day that he decided to wage war with Valdano. if you feel offended, good, that was my intent, but i take no joy in saying that and apologize nonetheless.

I had no intention of labelling you as a "gloryhunter" and I did not intend to say anything to that effect. I did not intend to get into a heated argument, nor am I offended. What I wanted to say was that I thought you should look upon coaches who have been successful with Madrid in the past with more affection. If you don't, that's fine -- but I'm still entitled to make the point, am I not? The same goes with with Ancelotti. This thread is full of Ancelotti hate, right from the first post. Hence, I think there was plenty of time to explain your opinion of Carlo as a coach in general. Now that you've done that, I think it's best we leave it at that.
It's all cool man.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
we need a coach like pelle that fit the nature of the club which is good attacking football with great ball movement, dont care if it takes a year or two as long as we are heading in the right direction and continue to build upon it, im just tired of trying to out talent opponents, when we should be looking for a coach to make the team work as one and not sections, carlo just wont give us that as was seen against barca basically doing what mou does!!! how do we improve then? no more of the quick success non sense we been trying that for more than 10 years, perez still fail notice these glaring mistakes he has been making

Pretty sure there was slightly more thought behind hiring someone just coming off a treble than just picking names out of a hat

Madrids mangerial expectations are too high.
Top manager atfer top manager are coming and going to and from Madrid every couple of years. Pick one who has clear footballing ideas and let him build his own team.

Since Miguel Munoz left in 1974, Only Del Bosque has lasted more than 3 years (3.5 years for him lol). And the 3 year mark is rare. Most only last 1-2 years. That's just how it is.... and that's why you need a manager that gives immediate returns. Guys who require a year or two in order to implement their style are non starters.
We can scream about it all we want. But that's not going to change. The expectation are to win or gtfo immediately.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
It's good to have high expectations, but if no coach is constantly living up to that, the fault is with the bar being too high not the tonnes of top coaches.
I mean let's be honest, even if a coach was making radical changes at Madrid, they'd still have 2nd place practically in the bag. It would be so much better to stick to somebody like VDB and let him work in peace for 5 years providing his football is good and Madrid are still getting far in Europe.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
the bar isn't too high though. Despite changing coaches every 1.8 years since 1974, Madrid has won 17 La Liga, 3 CLs, 2 Europas and 7 CDRs in the 38 years. That's 29 major trophies in 38 years. I'm not even counting the smaller trophies.
The media is just very tough at Madrid. The political environment is hugely stressful and cutthroat to boot. Most managers get burnt out quickly.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
Yeah but surely if Madrid are getting all of that success yet still having such a high turnover rate with managers that just goes to show the expectations for each individual manager are too high.
Obviously in the biggest clubs you expect major trophies, but it wouldn't hurt to let a manager set up a team the way he wants it and go from there.

That's what's happened with Mourinho. He's been given all the freedom etc by Perez and he's been here 3 years.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
I'm not going to hold my breath for that. If it hasn't happened since 1974, it's not going to happen now... and certainly not with Perez as the president. I expect a 2-3 year reign if you have success and less than that if you disappoint. It's not just Madrid either. I mean Pep burned out in Barca after 4 years and that was about as perfect a situation as you can imagine for a manager and a club... it's just too tough. Even if you have massive success, the personal requirements of the job are too much on a person in the big 2 clubs in Spain right now.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
Having Perez as president is pretty demoralizing when it comes to football projects.
Barcelona at least have that culture of theirs to lead to some good stability, very different to what madrid has seen recently.
I remember seeing a video of Eugenio Martinez Bravo, presenting ideas of what madrid could be with someone with his philosophy (as president), and it was a breath of fresh air...

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
spanish media is honestly the worst thing that has ever happened to madrid, it's they who set the expectations and pressure on madrid managers
it's ridiculous how much influence they have on the club and fans

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
spanish medias are as much a tool for the people in power than it is it's enemy. when they love you, they love you hard, but when it goes bad, it's really bad. let's not forget that all medias (mainly Marca) loved Mourinho, then through his constant fights including their own journalists, they turned on him. I can relate to that because in a way they are saying "no" to mourinho, but they also go very overboard with it.

so treble season=fire the coach that fit us better? mou is a very good manager but if perez actually knew something about football he would know madrid fans love attacking style of play but he went and bought a defensive specialist, cause of name and hype valdano said mou style is shit ffs that come from our former sporting director
Perez is not using any thought process at all, just looking at names like fck it here is 200 mil fix the problem

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
As I wrote in the RM section, I wouldn't dismiss Perez as some boo boo who knows nothing. The man, as arrogant as he is, knows the other side of football really well (the financial side) and does a pretty good job in keeping Real Madrid in the black. And in these very uncertain times, should not be dismissed at all.
Carlo is the safe option for Perez. Laudrup, Pepe Mel, Pochettino, etc. would be wonderful but unless they have someone in Real Madrid that have their back, they'll meet the same fate as deal Pelle. I wouldn't want Carlo to be hired but I don't have control over these things.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti next RM manager watch
the politics of being a madrid manager is just too much for anyone honestly, you feel pressure from the media and the players aswell. even vdb felt it, he wasnt just sacked becouse perez wanted to. there were rumoured fights in the locker room and of course the media ran its thing
if mou couldnt handle it, i don't see anyone else doing it either. i'm a madrid fan and i'd without a doubt refuse to take the job as a madrid manager just for the sake of my career, it's just not a smart choice to manage madrid

According to Spanish radio station, Cadena COPE’s, El Partido de las 12, Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to terms for the Italian to move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, to replace current manager, Jose Mourinho, who is presumed to leave Los Blancos and rejoin his former club, Chelsea.
