It can only be the flank though as he has done that for us beforehand. Assuming we play the lose 4-3-3 of ours then his place only can be on the left with Ger-Luc-Hen playing in the 3.
No, man, we played 4-4-1-1 against City and so it will be here, too.

Arq, it's definitely going to be this formation. no way Jonjo plays on the flank
--------------Reina
Johnson - Carra - Agger - Enrique
---------Gerrard - Lucas
---------------------------Hendo
Downing -----Shelvey
--------------Suarez

With Rodger's and his constant tinkering its considerably hard to predict that. Although now that you bring that formation it would make sense.
Although I truly hope this doesn't mean Hendo plays on the right

It brings my suspicions to rest as our formation has looked closest to a (modified) 4-2-3-1 for quite some time now. You are most probably right.
Although its probably Gerrard will be taking the more advanced reigns rather than Gerrard. Can really tell with all the freedom Stevie is given though.

Hendo out wide! Please god no.
I think Suarez will drift wide with Shelvey acting as F9. Hendo will play alongside Lucas with Gerrard in a more advance role.
Could have just played Borini.

What I was afraid of. Can't believe Rodgers would make the same mistake of adding Hendo in his least effective position.
Shelvey acting as a F9 is just dire considering he doesn't possess the qualities for that. Borini definitely should have started especially given that Sturridge is injured. Will be interesting to see how we actually fare.

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
Good to see us get off in a positive and domineering start. Johnson really needs to focus and support Downing a little better since his brainless decisions at the moment isn't exactly helping the final third.
So far the constant interchanging between the wide men to drift centre is encouraging.

So far Henderson on the left of the 4-2-3-1 is working poorly. Not only is he looking uncomfortable there but he is finding it difficult to overlap with Jose which is resulting in a imbalance of distribution throughout the width of the pitch.

Downing like fit and definitely up for it. Good to see.
On the other side this decision to stick a square peg in a round hole (Henderson) just isn't working to positive effect.

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
Not working at all as the reason is the left hand side is imbalanced, impotent and just isn't clicking as Henderson now drifting out centre is a testament to how uncomfortable he is there. Right hand side is working well despite Johnson being a dumbass but thankfully Downing has been excellent there.
Sterling would work perfectly on the left if not Coutinho.

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
Half time with mixed opinions.
We've shown some solid football down the midfield and up front especially on the right with Downing being excellent (Johnson, not) while down the middle, Suarez has been wasteful and Shelvey showing he doesn't have the movement or guile to pass where and when needed, hence looking rather invisible.
I've already stated my opinions on the left side as this quite obviously is a mistake.
Half time I'd take off Shelvey, bring Hendo in the Dual Pivot, put Gerrard in Shelvey's position while having Coutinho or Sterling on the right.

Everyone seems lackluster. Rodgers needs to get on the players backs at half time and tell them to play 100% or gtfo.
Anfield is more quite than a morgue.

Henderson and Downing for me were the only bright spots on the team at half time. Hendo worked his socks off and Downing was playing with confidence.

I was just thinking about Anfield. Its amazing how PL fans boast about their seats yet all the top clubs (if not more than half of the PL) is dead as a morgue.
Its absolutely heart wrenching to see Anfield in such a dire state atmospherically. I mean I can hear what each person is even saying.
Imagine the "VAGI" on Sahin after he heard about their atmosphere then to hear pin-drop silence. Kop is a joke.

Kop in the old days used to go nuts no matter how slow the game was. I feel that this new generation of scrubs sitting in the Kop only get exited when the team plays well.

Has to do with the stewards increasing strictness and the old generation not passing out squat to this new and meek generation of moaners and spectators.
As expected, no chances by Rodgers.

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
Shelvey is really really pissing me off now. Not only he is slow and ponderous in his role at the moment but this is the FOURTH F**KING time he has been offside with some clueless movement. If he wasn't offside for this one Suarez could just as easily tapped it in. Wake up!

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
Thank goodness. Fabio and Sterling coming in for Henderson (who didn't deserve to come off) and SHELVEY
Should add some movement, flair and pace into our attack. Well done Brendan. Hopefully Luis won't be as wasteful as he has been today.

Johnson
The way this is going with these long drawn out passes and direct runs into oblivion, we are destined to see a 0-0 draw here. Left side even with Sterling on is devoid of any movement as evidenced by Jose's frustrations.

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
I've gotta that was a harsh call on Olsson as Suarez rather made a meal of it.
Doesn't matter as this is our 2nd penalty of the season. and...........
Gerrard squanders the penalty with a highly disappointing kick. Amazing how shit we have been in penalties over the last 2 seasons.

it was never a penalty, but it would've been nice to make back a few of those points we've been robbed of. can't believe gerrard just missed that.

Re: Liverpool v West Bromwich
Finally we are trying out Coutinho. Downing had a fantastic 1st half but non-existent 2nd half. Good change by Rodgers if not risky.
Still reeling from Gerrard's miss. Cannot believe that just happened.
