Both didn't have very good games, simple as that. I wouldn't say either of them were bad.DeviAngel wrote:Pirlo bad ? SES was nowhere to be seen ffs

Why turn this into a club v club thing? Does nothing but derail the conversation. National side games are meant to bring fans together... That comment is worse than when Juventini blamed the Euro loss on Montolivo while Milanisti did the same for Marchisio..

Although I don't hate Napoli like you guys, I'm also of the same background and my 2nd favourite Italian team is Reggina.marottalad wrote:juveman17 wrote:marottalad wrote:

Interesting about the fullbacks being high, as Santon has been playing beyond the half way line in a lot of matches in recent weeks.
I like it personally because having 4 defenders back to deal with what is usually 1 forward is a waste IMO and having fullbacks that far forward helps maintain fluidity and pressure of attacks.
A lot of teams are realising this now and not just the very top teams even our selfs have Santon and Debuchy basically camped on the half way line in recent games
I used to favor fullbacks who were solid defensively and stayed back but as time has gone on i almost find them to be a waste and while they have defensive responsibility the large brunt of their responsibilities seem to be to maintain pressure of attacks and effect the game in an attacking sense.
I'm still honestly gobsmacked how cheap fullbacks are considering their importance to do what i mentioned above they are almost worth their weight in gold.
Be interesting to see how you set up going forward to 2014.
Thanks Mole. And some excellent points there.
Thing is its not that fullbacks can relax on their defensive abilities (when attacking continuously) its just that the development and what they are asked of is simply more demanding. Fullbacks are demanded of more abilitiy on the ball, more stamina and athleticism, more roles to cover upon. Its resulted in a transitional phase which isn't balanced out as well since its very difficult to balance the training of both attacking and defensive skills throughout the development.
OT: Jesus now that I'm back this has turned into a Juve v Milan thread? One thing I cannot stand is infighting between clubs regarding La Nazionale. Both weren't exactly devastating yet how did Pirlo have a bad game? Yes he was shuffling around to save his energy but had several splitting passes and balls for Balotelli and Candreva along with spreading play well. SES didn't have a shot but providing width and 2 chances with excellent technique along with combining superbly with Santon. Too top that off didn't anyone see his 'Leonardo' that he pulled off on the Dutch marker?
In case anyone forgot this was a friendly and both had only one half to play.
