Sky Sports sources understand that Palermo have agreed a deal with Queens Park Rangers for Alejandro Faurlin.

Palermo made a bid for Faurlin earlier in the window, but that was rejected by QPR.

They have now returned and this time have come to an agreement with the Hoops and are now taking him on loan until the end of the season.

Harry Redknapp had insisted he wanted the 26-year-old to stay with the club, but with other players due to arrive before Thursday's deadline - he has sanctioned his departure.

Faurlin, who is anxious to secure regular first-team football, is set to become the third Argentine to leave England for Palermo following on from Mauro Boselli and Mauro Formica - who completed respective moves from Wigan and Blackburn earlier in the month.

Everton have pulled out of the deal to sign Dutch international Leroy Fer.

The Toffees agreed an £8.6million deal with Twente earlier this week, but issues emerged with the transfer after the player arrived in England and had a medical.

The two clubs continued talks, but now the deal has been called off after Everton backed out.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News, Everton chief executive Robert Elstone explained the reasoning: "We were very excited about the prospect of a young international Dutch player coming to Goodison, and the combination of a lot of hard work we thought we had the player.

"But the transfer did not go smoothly and there were some issues and as our fans would expect, we have to put the club first, and as our track record proves, we thought long and hard about it but it did not work out.

"We have to be very careful about how we spend out money."

Elstone insists that they are still looking for new signings and could still make a deal before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

"We are still looking and there are other options for us and I refer back to our track record, and as any club we do have other options and it will not be for the lack of trying," he insisted.

RMC sport reporting that Leonardo went to Rome today to make a hard push on buying De Rossi over the winter. He has missed a planned even where he was to represent PSG today because of this.

If Leo is moving, then there's something. Not sure how much though lol. RMC is a very solid source.

Fiorentina full back Matthia Cassani has been linked with Genoa.

The 29-year-old is available for transfer this month after failing to break into Fiorentina’s starting line up.

Cassani, who was signed outright in the summer from Palermo after a 12-month loan spell, has only appeared in eight League games this season.

Palermo, Inter and Sampdoria have all shown an interest this month, but it seems that Genoa are closest.

Tottenham Hotspur are poised to launch an assault to sign Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo before the winter transfer window slams shut.

According to Spanish daily Sport, Andre Villas-Boas men are prepared to pay €18M to snap up the Spain international striker from Los Rojiblancos and boost their striking options.

Sevilla are keen to raise funds; goalkeeper Diego Lopez has been sold to Real Madrid, while defender Federico Fazio looks set for Zenit St. Petersburg.

But selling Negredo would bring in a big chunk of cash, although it would weaken coach Unai Emery’s side significantly.

Tottenham are desperate to sign a goalscorer before the winter window closes and are working overtime to make that happen.

Now that Lewis Holtby has been secured from Schalke, the Premier League side have brought their operation to bear on handing Villas-Boas the striker to assure the team of a top four finish.

Negredo was strongly linked with Chelsea earlier this month, but the Blues bought Demba Ba from Newcastle instead.

The 27-year-old has scored nine goals in 19 La Liga games so far this season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has admitted that he can see himself possibly returning to AC Milan, explaining he sees Italy as his second home.

The 31-year-old left Milan last summer to join wealthy French side Paris Saint-Germain, where he has enjoyed an immediate impact, scoring 19 goals in 19 Ligue 1 games as he powers Carlo Ancelotti’s men to the title.

Ibrahimovic finished as Serie A top scorer last season and his loss was a disappointing one for the Milan faithful.

And he could go back to the Rossoneri.

"I hope to stay at PSG until the end of my contract", he was quoted as saying by Maxifoot.

"I still have two years to do, but we’ll see.

"At Barcelona, I said I wanted to stay for five years and I left after one season. Could I go back to Milan one day? Obviously, I still have my house there.

"Italy is like my second home."

Affording Ibrahimovic before the end of his PSG contract looks difficult for Milan, especially as they have just splashed out in excess of €20M to sign Mario Balotelli from Manchester City.

Anzhi Makhachkala are prepared to pay Florent Malouda €4.5M per year to move to Russia, according to Russian daily Izvestia – if they cannot sign Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica.

Malouda has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are not expected to stand in his way if a suitable offer arrives.

Benfica star Gaitan remains the priority of the Dagestan giants, but at present the Portuguese giants have priced the midfielder out of a switch to Guus Hiddink’s men.

And if that situation continues, Anzhi Makhachkala will turn their attention to Malouda, with the Russian Premier League side prepared to offer a one-and-a-half-year contract to the winger, on an eye-popping €4.5M per year.

Malouda’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season and Chelsea are expected to want in the region of €2M for him.

The Frenchman, who moved to Chelsea from Lyon in 2007, is keen to get back to playing first team football for at least the next 18 months, with booking a spot to the 2014 World Cup with France on his mind.

A move to link up with Hiddink’s men could be exactly what the doctor ordered for Malouda.

Lazio striker Mauro Zarate is closing in on a move to Dynamo Kiev, according to the Argentinian's agent.

Zarate has played just one league game this season after falling out with the management at the Rome club, and spent last term on loan at Inter Milan.

It now appears that Zarate will be heading to Ukraine, with Dynamo reportedly offering €8million (£6.9m) for the forward.

Reports of the move have been confirmed by the player's agent Luis Ruzzi, who told Lalaziosiamonoi.it: "We spoke with the Dynamo president about 10 days ago.

"Mauro was immediately left fascinated by their project. We are talking about a permanent transfer.

"The boy is happy, he's married to the cause and there are no other alternatives for him - it's either Lazio or Dynamo."

Zarate, who spent time on loan at Birmingham City in 2008, joined Lazio in 2008 and has five caps for Argentina.

Yohan Modric wrote:Dynamo Kiev have secured the services of Lazio forward Mauro Zarate, Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed.

After the two clubs agreed on a €10 million transfer fee, the deal is set to be completed by the end of the day.

Zarate, 25, had earlier reached an agreement over the personal terms after spending a couple of days in Kiev.

The player, who was considered one of the talented forwards in world football not so long ago, has found it hard to get regular playing time at Stadio Olimpico over the last two seasons.

Despite impressing at the start of his career at Lazio, the Argentine allowed his temperament to get the best of him and was constantly overlooked by both Edy Reja and Vladimir Petkovic.

As a result, Zarate made just one Serie A appearance during the last two campaigns, although he did spend the second part of the 2011/2012 season on loan at Inter.
Not surprised. Dinamo Kiev just go after Serie A rejects these days. Zarate had some talent, but he really never translated his hype to performances on the field. Once other teams identified him as a threat, defenders shut him down easily.

Milan should get in for this guy. Prime age for a CB at 25, current starter for his club (who are doing very well), wants to leave and is out of contract. And did anyone say "free transfer"??? Rumour is that Galliani can hear these words from as far as 500km away.
