Multi-supporters: Can they be taken seriously ?
"Fans" who support more than one team
Can they be taken seriously in your opinion ?
and I don't mean like Bhends being trapped in south of Texas, supporting FC Dallas as local team as Inter.
I mean, 2 elite teams in Europe.

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
I think everyones opinion should be taken seriously ( within reason)
Regardless of how many clubs they support or whether they share a dislike for a certain club or not their opinion should still be weighed up and considered like everyone else.
To do anything else is just childish IMO.

I support Madrid but I follow Porto's progression. I don't consider them a team I support but a team I follow because well I'm Colombian.

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
What good reason is there to not take someone who's supports two clubs seriously?
You can follow and support as many teams as you like so long as you're willing to be loyal with them and don't just ditch them at the first signs of trouble.

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
But don't you question their dedication ?
Let's say someone supports RM and Schalke at the same time.
Which one do they watch if they have a game at same time ?
What if they met in CL ?
It's like being in love EQUALLY at the same time with 2 girls. It can't happen, no matter how hard you try to lie to yourself, you like one of them more than the other one. so time to own up and only choose one of them IMO
I think, regardless of their footballing knowledge, the fundamentals and basics of muti-supporting is just totally wrong. But that's modern football.
Football should be driven by heart, emotions, and passion. and you can only truly love one team at a time based on those 3 requirements.

Depends. For example you watch Arsenal every game. You go to the rare game at the stadium.
Your second team...do you watch them every day too ? Do you feel as gutted when they lose as Arsenal do ? Do you follow their transfers as closely as Arsenal ?
If the answer is no....then you don't technically support the second team.

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
Is bhends really a Dallas fan? I'm Dallas til I die too.
As for Europe, I do have soft spots for some teams in other leagues, but no way would I call myself a supporter. It can really change year to year based on what players they have or what new style they have. I'm not restricted with hate to the point that I can't appreciate their rivals success every now and again.
The ones who really grind my gears are the guys who support a CL team in every league. Or even worse, the unique individual who supports Madrid AND Barcelona...

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
I think in Mole, we have/had the perfect example.
When we first met him in 2010, he was a part time fan of Barcelona and part time Newcastle.
He got BANNED defending Barcelona...PERMA-BANNED. It didn't make him credible with the Ozil-Cesc cookie and that bikini girl. He was just moal, another poster on the block.
Since, he ditched the glory and went for his one and only toon. He probably enjoys football less than before, but now he is a lot more focused on NUFC related news. He posts more about them, active in NUFC forums, his ditching of Barca, allowed him to become a 100% committed Newcastle fan and hence is now the Shakespeare of GL.
A model for every one to follow

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
For me it's even weird if fans support a team from another city or country, because imo one should support a club where you live/come from, but i guess 90% of this forum don't live in the city of their supported team so i accept it

For me it's very weird. I can't understand how you do that.
For instances, who was Arquitecto supporting in the CL finals between Milan and Liverpool?

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
Sepi i always have been 100% devoted to Newcastle ( i actually went to more games when i first joined the forum)...... i didn't speak about them because they was in the Championship when i joined i doubt anyone wants to listen to that.
So decided to just about the topics that was popular.
I also wanted to get banned long before that game and it had nothing with Barca, but seemed like a good away of getting banned by going absolutely mental and posting Porn
I still have a soft spot for Barca but i don't support them and never have, i love how they play and its a bit of a relief from the emotional frustration i suffer from following NUFC from day to day.

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
They can be seriously taken.
Since I am a prime example of one who supports two elite teams (if Liverpool can be called that nowadays), I'll share my story (for the 100th time now)
Milan in fact is literally like my local club since the Maternal side of the family are hardcore Milanisti (and Lombards) generationally. I grew up with my Maternal family (father is basque and supports Sociedad) in Brescia is less than 45 mins from Milan. So essentially Milan is my local club as I recall fondly many days where I sat with my uncle on his lap and cousins cheering on the 150 below the Tribuna until I moved to Donostia.
Liverpool? When PL actually came to came to broadcast in Brescia in 99/00 I just fell in love with them for their players, atmosphere, Anfield and its illustrious history. Its not like they were doing well either as they finished 4th that season under a dull spell of football. My maternal family still ridicules me for this but Liverpool will always be a thing of my own.
Who do I love more? None. I gave my cringe worthy analogy for the Istanbul final so I'll say it again. Liverpool and Milan are like my 2 kids who I love equally, follow equally and dedicate my life to equally. If you're two kids faced off in a Wimbeldon final who would you support?
So I can't be accused of supporting two elite teams just out of glory as one of them stands literally as my local club growing up. Liverpool I have no affiliation with as I've never been to Liverpool let alone Anfield.
Nonetheless I've supported them faithfully without any question.

But how can you support equally Liverpool and Milan?
What where you doing in the CL finals? cheering every goal? I can't believe you felt exactly the same whoever won it?

Re: "Fans" who support more than one team
AggerySwaggery is both a Liverpool and RM fan and judged by everything I've seen him post in our section he's as genuine a LFC fan as anyone. I think it's possible to support two big (European) clubs as long as they're not from the same country.
But it's not without problems, either, in my eyes. Being a fan of a club to a point where their performances affect your mood can be mentally consuming at times. That's how I find it anyway. Personally I couldn't support two clubs, all my passion goes in Liverpool FC. Then there are a few clubs which I like and wish them well, but that's just that and can be a passing thing. For instance Hyypiä - the reason I'm a Liverpool fan - coaching Leverkusen, so at the moment Leverkusen is my favorite team in Bundesliga. If he went on to coach, say, Stuttgart, then they'd be my favorite
But there's not really any passion there.
Edit. Yeah well, Arquitecto is another example.

Telling you how can I equally support them is hard to quantify or to describe. When both teams reached the final I just hoped for a friendly, clean and enjoyable match to watch. In the end, Milan won one while Liverpool won another.
In the end, both clubs are tattooed onto my ass cheeks.

That's kinda impossible, mate. I'm from Finland, our domestic league is of rather poor quality and most of the time there are no games on TV let alone available on the Internet. Furthermore, I grew up in a town of 25'000 people. Players of the local club are, like, high-school students and some adults who play football for fun. I don't know which division they play in. There's not much there to support.

So long as they support teams that are not in direct competition of each other I don't see the problem.

In response to what should be officially labelled "The White Star thesis", people can support whoever they want, for whatever reason they want. You take them seriously if what they are saying makes some degree of sense.
