Really i think it could go to the point where this award will be renamed as Messi D'Or.

He's unstoppable atm and it doesnt look like he's going to slow down any time soon.

I feel bad for other great players in this generation like Ronaldo, Iniesta, Falcao, etc. Messi is just untouchable atm.

Deserved for Messi. He's lucky he was developed and played from the start with a club like Barca. For some of the other greats, they didn't go to an elite club until a few years into their greatness... all the stars lined up right for him to put a streak like this together and, of course, he has immense talent.

Everyone keep in mind the following for the ballon d'or:
- until 1995, you had to be of European nationality and play in a European league to qualify
- from 1995 to 2007, you had to play in a European league only
- Only since 2007 is it a world player award

Pele would have won it 10 times if the criteria was the same back then.

It's great when things work out just as they should.

You're getting something wrong here mate. Until 2010, FIFA World Player of The Year =/= Ballon d'Or.

Ballon d'Or(golden ball) was an award given by France Football's magazine and had all of those criteria. FIFA Player of The Year wasn't the same. As I said, they only just merged both awards.

They used to give it to guys who won the most and we're the most influential players in their NT and Club ... If you scored 80 goals and won only the CDR it doesnt mean squat , but hey it's Messi ... who cares if Iniesta or Xavi we're winning the CL and then the WC and EC ... it should've never been an award to the best player , but a most valuable player ...

It's a matter of individual award, and in terms of that Messi had the best one yet with record breaking goals and high assists both for Argentina and Barcelona.

Or you should open your eyes and tell me how many times does Somone score 91 goals in a season? Some players don't even score that much over a few seasons. I am talking about the highest level here.
