IMO, as instrumental as Ronaldo was in Real Madrids league win last year...it can be argued the entire team as a collective was on point and at times Benz, Iker and Ozil were just as good and helping carry the team. he had some clutch games for sure, but also lost a big penatly in the Semis of Champions League and he decided to go last in the Portugal/Spain shoot out and ended up not kicking at all. Not to take away from him, I think all 3 players have a good case to as to why they should and shouldnt win it.
As stated earlier, I think given Spains historical 3peat, I think Iniesta gets the award. But if Messi or Ronaldo win it I think they would also deserve it.
The fact is that neither of them had a perfect season. But IMO Ronaldo was the most decisive.
Ronaldo was decisive for Real Madrid scoring the winner against Barca in Camp Nou, and in many matches in La LIGA and in the Euros

Bar the fact that ronaldo takes alot of shots (ffs we know that ronaldo takes a billion long shots), the stats are somewhat close, with messi coming out on top..
Also.. I'm curious to see where you got your sources from this stat

Messi deserves it imo. They are all fantastic players but I think Messi is better than almost any player I have ever seen.

Messi will get it, kinda feel bad a little for Ronaldo. Pretty much any other era and he probably would have more than 1 Ballon d'or to his name.

You have to count new seasons where Ronaldo got out performed by Messi in every possible way.this award is from January to December.
