Arsenal seething after Chelsea block deadline Demba deal:
Arsene Wenger thought a deal to sign the Senegal striker on a season-long loan was in place on Monday night after hours of negotiations between the clubs, but were left fuming after Chelsea made a late U-turn on the deal and pulled the plug in the eleventh hour

Re: Demba Ba
Jose personally responsible for blocking Ba Arsenal move:
Jose Mourinho says he personally blocked Demba Ba signing for Arsenal after learning of Mesut Ozil's move to the Emirates

Ah yes, Mou leading L'Arse down the garden path only to pull out at the last minute and leave them with their only back-up striker being.....Bendtner

"I did not accept Arsenal's offer for Demba Ba because added to their signing of Ozil, they would have been title contenders."

Re: Demba Ba
Bendy at Arsenal again does make me laugh, quite a bit.
I wonder if they'll sign Henry on loan again?

Re: Demba Ba
Demba Ba says it has been 'difficult' to spend time on the sidelines:
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8962816/chelsea-striker-demba-ba-happy-with-performance-in-3-1-win-over-norwich
Coming from someone who makes Torres look like Marco Van Basten...
He's only himself to blame really. Should be one of the easiest strikeforces around to get into. Yet he's probably the worst of an absolutely dire lot.

"It's difficult to be left on the sidelines but, as I'm a professional, and a good one, I always work hard and wait for moments like this."

Re: Demba Ba
To be honest, he wasn't bad against Norwich, if he improves his shooting which will come with confidence and his timing of runs he'd easily be our best CF.

Re: Demba Ba
We have a long history of strikers that just doesn't perform that well.
Apart from Drogba and for that golden boot winning season, Anelka, we haven't had any striker that was really good enough during the Roman Era
Makes you think it might be something other than the player's ability that's causing all these problems

Drogba was always what we needed, I agree though, our tactics are the reason for our problems, not our CF's.

Re: Demba Ba
Or because just about every striker we've had over the last decade apart from Drogba has been cack. I mean seriously, is there any other team on the planet who 'can't play with a striker' and we're just some sort of one-in-a-million anomaly? I'm inclined to believe it's the former. We've had a slew of average at best, shite at worst strikers over the last several years and that's the reason we have striker problems, not some imaginary curse on center-forwards at the club.

Re: Demba Ba
We do play slightly differently to some other teams and very rarely get our CF's in behind the defence.
I actually think if we had a CF who could dribble well, E.g. Aguero or Sturridge, we wouldn't have this problem, but all of our CF's struggle to dribble in tight spaces and therefore can't make enough room for themselves to shoot in our system.
This is why our AM's get so many goals, they can dribble and therefore can make room to score.

Re: Demba Ba
I honestly do think it is the latter Shed.
Torres aside, the likes of Shevchenko and Ba were great for their previous teams before they signed. To a lesser extent Crespo as well.
All the strikers that were brought in to lead the attack failed except for Drogba

Re: Demba Ba
Crespo scored 25 in 73. Not a world class return but hardly a horrible one. Around 1 in 3, which is about what he got on his loans to Milan and Inter as well before being sold.
Sheva was 30 when he was brought in and already on the way down, just like Torres.
Ba is and always was a merely above average at best player and, like so many others of his kind, was found out upon moving to a top club and no longer being a big fish in a small pond.
Even Anelka (Golden Boot-Winner ahem...) had about a 1 in 3 goal-to-game ratio for us, which is what he had at City, which is what he had at his breakthrough season at Arsenal...
What I'm saying is, of all the strikers we've had over the last 10 years, you can't definitively point to any of them and think, 'this one should have been our 1-in-2 superstar'. They just haven't been that great.

For starters i don't see what makes us a small pond and you this massive club....
We have a bigger stadium and the trophy count isn't exactly massively in your favour either..... in fact we have more league titles
Anyway the reason Ba has struggled is style of play, nothing to do with expectations or any of that crap.
He thrives on crosses and flick ons and such like..... its the reason why Lukaku is on loan he's not suited to your style of play.
You won't like hearing it but Drogba would struggle in this team by comparison as well.... the way you play the CF is secondary an used for build up with the midfield to share out the goals and very few strikers would shine in such a set up.... good luck in finding one.

I said top, not bigger. Chelsea are at the top at the present time, and Newcastle aren't. Nothing to do with which club is bigger historically.
The 'fish in ponds' analogy is very commonly used merely in relation to comparing quality in two squads. And you know it.

Ba is a good striker and to be fair, his goals at Chelsea were simply amazing. But I never see him as that threatening striker
