Premier League - Everton vs Chelsea

On Sunday, Chelsea make the journey north to Merseyside to face off against Top 4 rivals Everton. The Toffees got off to a flying start to the season, and after a slight dip in results, have now returned to form, having gone undefeated in their last 7 - a run that includes beating West Ham away from home, earning a point against Manchester City at the Etihad, and beating Spurs at home 2-1.

Chelsea go into the match after a great result on Boxing Day, having beaten Norwich at Carrow Road 1-0 to take all 3 points to move within 4 of 2nd-placed Manchester City with a game in hand. Everton, too, celebrated Boxing Day with a win, beating Wigan at home 2-1.

Everton will be optimistic, knowing that history proves they have given Chelsea plenty of trouble in recent outings. It was this very fixture last year - which ended 2-0 to the home side - which was one of the games that decidedly sealed then-manager Andre Villas-Boas' fate.

Missing for Everton are Tony Hibbert and Kevin Mirallas, while Seamus Coleman and Darron Gibson will undergo late fitness tests. Marouane Fellaini, serving his 3 match ban for headbutting Stoke's Ryan Shawcross, also misses out (

Probably will. It's a good strategy in all honesty, although it leaves a sour taste in me mouth to have to give FSW any creditBlue Barrett wrote:I've got 10 quid on Moses starting.

And then give Piazon & Marin opportunities.ShedEnd1905 wrote:Probably will. Use up Moses as much as you can before he goes off to ACN, then have Oscar to come in fully fresh and rested once he leaves.
Have to see I was EXTREMELY surprised to see Ake come on against Norwich(thought I was seeing a Gullit incarnate

Massive 3 points today. Great game by the lads. Everton gave us almost no breathing space and forced us to play at their pace but kudos to the lads for being able to adjust and get the win.

Re: Premier League - Everton vs Chelsea
VERY impressive and important result.
We have to admit, FSW has done quite well so far (barring the CWC debacle, of course). The players seems to like him, the defense is the most competent it's been since before AVB was manager, and the confidence, character and self-belief shown earlier this season has returned.
Still want him out at season's end though

As a side note, I'm really hoping Cech's injury isn't too serious. To have him out for any length of time would be catostrophic

Even the most basic of footballing skills he's alarmingly poor at anymore. He can't run with the ball, misplaces even the simplest of passes, not to mention his actual activity in front of goal.Abramovich wrote:SUPER SUPER FRANK

But hey, DID YOU SEE THOSE DEFENSIVE HEADERS?!?! Magnificient!!!

i was watching the arsenal game the day before where walcott got his hattrick, and in the post match interview he was talking about how in the begining he would always try to smash his goal, but learned from thiery henry during his training sessions how to do his finishing better. Torres used to be able to finish, but now he just tries to smash the goal from the 3 or 4 shots he had in the game
