Or Drogba's last penalty, and how he celebrated it.

Beautiful celebration too, really nice. I think that it is forgotten in these sort of discussions is due to the fact that it was extremely early in the year.

This wouldn't have anything to do with Ramirez being Brazilian by any chance?
Conceding 2 goals in the 1st half, reduced to 10 men ,the game looked all but over and everyone expected Barcelona to put this tie to bed until Ramires provides a moment of magic out of nowhere. The goal literally carried Chelsea to the Champions league final..You have to be kidding me to call it 'just a great goal' as it was not only an important one in regards to deciding the fate of the tie but also one of the defining moments of last year's Champions League.

Might as well place Messi's PK saved by the crossbar at SB right before that then since it definitely added to the chain of events which led Chelsea to the final.Surag wrote:Lex wrote:That awkward moment when people confuse "great goals" with "memorable moments"

If THAT qualifies for a "memorable moment", then the standard for 2012 is pretty low. Might as well include Tony Watt's goal against Barcelona as top contender, or Koscielny's equalizer against City

Champions league semi-final is not just another league or a group stage game.
You should take the importance of the tie into aspect.

Re: Most memorable Footballing moment of 2012
Its a bit similar to the Champions League of the 2010 season..For me one of the moments that year was Robben's solo goal against Fiorentina, and you wouldnt call it as just some great goal ffs as it was highly consequential to the final result.
Ramires' goal stands out in a similar sense for me.

Nope, sorry, doesn't cut it for me.
It's not one of those "remember where you were when...." moments.
I remember where i was for Torres goal vs Barca
I remember where i was for Drogba's winning penalty
I remember where i was for Ibra's dirty bicycle kick
I remember where i was for Tottenham 2-5 Arsenal (both occasions)
Ramires' goal barely registers in my mind

Thing with me is, as funny as the Torres goal was, and ironic that he all of all people scored it, fact remains Chelsea had the game won with or without. It was just an insult goal, salt on the wounds. Not as an important goal like lets say Robbens vs Man Utd in the semis. Plus I remember where I was for allot of goals

Re: Most memorable Footballing moment of 2012
My personal most memorable momento was the olympic gold final match
Also the Torres vs Barcelona goal
The Madrid vs Bayern penalty shootouts
Abramovich finally lifting the cup
And the Milan and Juve derbys
