Spain have no chance at the WC if Alba and Carvajal are the fullbacks. Specially since Alonso and Busquets are likely to be the DM pivot

Azpilicueta is a given atm considering Arbeloa is out. If I were VDB I would call Carvajal, Azpilicueta and Alberto. But knowing him, he'll take Juanfran, Azpi, and Alba

that's probably because
1) alba has proven a fantastic resource for spain at euros level already
2) moreno has no experience and proved right about 0
3) Juanfran is having just as good a season as any of those RBs even if he isnt talked about much, he is mature and has experience with that group already.
4) Carvajal like moreno, even though he has played well vs bayern and barca last week, had been a liability in similar games before and is also an unnecessary gamble. his time will come.

that could also be said about alba in 2012.

in 2012, spain had no left back, and taking an attacking player like alba was a good way to compliment Arbeloa and to add something to the team. Right now, they have Azpi at RB, who will be backed up by either arbeloa or juanfran. There is no reason to gamble with carvajal.

Azpi is like prime Arbeloa good defensively but offers no support going forward. Ideally it should be Carvajal and Azpi starting because they are the best fullbacks at the moment but there is no reason for VDB to divert from a winning formula even if that means not calling up those who deserve it

Moreno is average so should be over looked without hesitation

And I agree Alba is faster than Carvajal. imo he is the fastest fullback in the world and his speed masks alot of his deficiencies. Without that speed he would be exposed more often than now

Knowing VDB he will call players according to their seniority so it goes in this order:
1) Arbeloa
2) Juanfran
3) Azpi
4) Carvajal

Azpi will just about get called up because he can cover for Alba otherwise VDB will probably only call up Arbeloa and Juanfran

juanfran-ramos-martinez-azpilicueta

All this talk is frivolous when we know that the dormant walrus in Vicente Del Bosque only tends to scout Atletico, Barcelona and Real Madrid, narrowing his perspective on the better prospects for our line-up. Azpilicueta has been overlooked by Vicente for years so expect nothing there.

Vicente, like Lippi believes in team unity and chemistry through understanding of playing with each other week-in-week-out and in the bonds they share as a whole through the acquiral of winning trophies together. Thus why scrubs in the form of Pique, Alba, Arbeloa are chosen over finer candidates.

Now that Carvajal has established himself and that Vicente puts immense trust in Carlo, expect Arbeloa to be replaced for our NT within Carvajal mirroring Jordi Alba on the right flank, though in a more space capitalization role similar to what Ramos was when RB for us.

That's what we have to live with despite him racking the trophies yet the decline is nigh as experienced by the past year and Del Bosque's Lippilism is reaching 3rd degree.
