Seems to get bit of attention lately, don't know why. Which one you think has performed better for Argentina at age of 24. Here are the major tournaments, stats. My take for different competitions is 3-1-0 for Messi:

Well actually this was for Seppuku and other new to the football, who probably has only seen Maradona's two goals against England from youtube, and say Messi hasn't performed for Argentina as good, when actually it just the opposite.

I am not a Messi hater, but this is a complete non-discussion. What do you achieve with this? Yes, numbers-wise Messi is more successful at an arbitrary age than Maradona for his national team. Go bake a cake now?

Messi is inevitably losing out according to the logic of the argument:

Maradona's age when he won the WC (and Golden Ball): 26??

Messi possible age of winning the WC (highly unlikely): 27/28??

So yeah, a comparison doomed from the get-go.
