They could, they were playing Ibra a fat sum and their wage bill is surprisingly high, but signing him would be contradictory to their current project as they were trying to cut costs and the age of their players

200k a week is too much for any club to pay for an out-of-form 28 year old.

Borussia Dortmund would be glad to offer Nuri Sahin a return to the club if he became available at the right price, according to the Bundesliga club's director of sport Michael Zorc.

Sahin was voted the Bundesliga's player of the year when Dortmund won the title in 2010/11 before he joined Real Madrid.

After failing to hold down a regular berth in the Madrid side, Sahin moved to Liverpool on a season-long loan, although he is still contracted to the Spanish club until 2017.

The Turkey international has failed to rediscover his best form and Dortmund are monitoring his progress.

"Of course we are following Nuri's career - he's one of our lads," Zorc told the Bild newspaper.

"We said to him back then (when he left), if Nuri says that he wants nothing other than to play in Dortmund, then we will deal with the issue.

"But it has got to be manageable, and nothing has changed in that regard."

Dortmund have said they would not sell attacking midfielder Mario Gotze under any conditions.

"Mario has a long-term contract with us and he feels very happy here with his family and friends in Dortmund," Zorc said.

"There is nothing that suggests that will change. He is 20 and, consequently, far from reaching the end of his development."

Inter could be ready to make a move for Liverpool’s Nuri Sahin in January.

The 24-year-old, who is on loan from Real Madrid, may be ready to end his spell at Anfield with the Nerazzurri ready to step in.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, both the player and Liverpool want to end the loan deal after as the Turkish international hasn’t made the impact he would have liked.

It is thought that Inter would also take Sahin on loan, though there are rumours that his former club, Borussia Dortmund are also interested.

Juve-bound Peluso praises Atalanta


Federico Peluso has thanked Atalanta for allowing him to catch the eye of Italian giants Juventus.

The left-back is just a medical away from joining the Old Lady for the rest of this season following his dramatic rise in the Italian game.

“I thank Atalanta for everything they have given me in these seasons,” the Italian international told Tuttosport.

“I’m happy because Juventus represents an important opportunity for my career which I want to take advantage of.

“However, at the same time, there is sadness in leaving a club and an environment in which I was very happy.”

The almost 29-year-old joined Atalanta in January 2009 from Albinoleffe and caught the eye in Serie A last season.

Juventus had made an offer for Peluso in the summer, but no move occurred as Reto Ziegler was only shipped out once the Italian transfer window had closed.

The agent of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has revealed the interest of Chelsea and Manchester City.

Mino Raiola can see Cavani moving in June.

"For now Cavani will stay, but I wouldn't be so sure about that once June arrives," Raiola told Il Mattino.

"I'm sure there are clubs ready to pay that. But only five clubs in the world can afford to do that - Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain.

"You are intelligent enough on your own to understand where Cavani will play his football next season."

Lewandowski has reportedly agreed to join United in the summer.

PSG are joining the interest for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba.

Ba's agents have already priced him out of a move to Chelsea, but he remains keen to leave Newcastle this month.

The striker last week declared an ambition to play for boyhood idols PSG and Le Parisien says he's now under consideration at the French big spenders.

PSG chiefs see Ba as an ideal backup for No1 centre-forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
