I know it's tough, sitting here and seeing Madrid and Barcelona be involved in all the high profile purchases while we do nothing, but it's of little concern to us really. If Madird want to splash their millions on players they don't need, then what's it to us?

Really, the only thing we should concern ourselves with is if Barcelona will follow up with another bid for Cesc or not.

They are not the only talented players, besides why Arsenal considers to sell Cesc in a first place?

Haha, just about to post something like that, Supercartts...

Also, these clubs are traditionaly considered "prestigious". You go there, win lots of shit even if you sit on the bench, get famous etc. They are the "whore" clubs.

Admitedly, in Madrid you don't win as much but... well....

Because the system allows us to. There are no salary caps, player drafts, etc. System is set up for super teams, not all around competition.

It's actually quite strange. They're expected by the board to make big name signings every single year even when they're winning things. I mean chelsea/city do it because they have areas to improve. Madrid and Barca do it because they have to.

New superstars = maintain international appeal and excitement + new merchandising/image opportunities.

That's why Madrid makes money despite spending a ton. They've created a marketing media machine that needs to be fed.
