Juan Mata
This guy is a beast. Ripped spurs a new one today. He looks proper settled down to the league now and is performing very well consistently too. How is it that he can't start for Spain though?
Hope he rinsed out his great performance today and has a rubbish one v utd next Sunday.

Re: Juan Mata
Mata was not tearing them lol, first half went to none of the teams whilst in the second spurs were actually playign better than chelsea for most of the half, before a brilliant goal and a brilliant assist gave chelsea the advantage
And then you have walker flopping about on the pitch and mata is alone and has all the time in teh world to pick his pass

Thats an easy question. They have much better player on his position and some who are just better...

Who does Spain have at Mata position that is "much better," and "just better"?

well, Xavi and Iniesta are much better better while Silva is somewhere around much better and just better and IMHO Cazorla is better..
And when I said in his position I meant player who would take his place on the starting eleven and NOT the exact same position on the pitch and seeing as he is a midfielder those are the players that he would replace...

Re: Juan Mata
Mata is a great player i agree, the most technically gifted to arrive at Stamford bridge since Zola.
As for Spain, it would be a huge mistake to break the current midfield, and up top there is an embarresment of riches of playmakers. As it is i believe Spain should remove one or two playmakers and put in two more direct players upfront.

Re: Juan Mata
Mata has scored 6 goals and given 7 assists in his last 6 games for Chelsea. In my opinion, he's been better than Carzola and Silva, atleast for this season. There's no reason why he shouldn't get into the Spain NT ahead of those two but is seems Chelsea is gaining from him not getting international callups.

Yohan Modric wrote:Mata as false 9.
I don't think he has the penetration to play false 9.
he needs a striker to work off.
currently Mata > Silva and Cazorla.

Had a pretty crap first half though gradually got into the game contributing with 2 goals and an assist. Though Hazard was more impressive as a whole game imo.

Re: Juan Mata
And neither Silva or Cazorla are major players for Spain. Spanish players destroy the EPL these days and he is having a brilliant start to the season but I am a little tired of this flavor of the month crap meaning that X player is better the a Player y who has been doing it for years.
Fabregas, Cazorla, Silva, Xavi, Iniesta, Xabi (as technically he is taking a midfield spot away) are all better players for Spain. Fab had 3 assists today 2 of which were more impressive then anything Mata did, is he now good again? To forget Fab's exploits for Arsenal and Cazorla's for Villareal, and while playing on the same team with Silva it was VERY VERY obvious who was better.
It's funny how some of you think. Spain does not cave to the Flavor of the month crap like a lot of you do. They have won the last 2 Euro's and the World Cup in a row and Del Bosque knows who is better then who.
The football they play in the EPL is not what is played on the international stage and the skills to excel in the EPL is not what the Spanish National team is looking for in there players.
Del Bosque doesn't think having great first touch and close control not to mention being able to spot through balls and finish when given the chance are supernatural skills they are expected on that Spanish team and all the players even most of the defenders can do it that's why he doesn't switch around his players because someone is having a good month or two.
IT's very obvious who is better then who.

I was unaware Hazard was playing the whole game tbh, except when I saw him on the ground.
